“NO air conditioning and they raise the rates on weekends without telling you.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 19, 2013

The rooms and resort looks just like the pictures; however, this resort is sub-par to most Marriott properties. No continental breakfast or any restaurant on the premises. Also, NO air conditioning in the rooms, not sure why, there is air in the main building. The rooms were hot and stuffy in August; housekeeping gave us a fan but it was very noisy and made it very difficult to sleep at night. Also, the resort personnel do not have very good customer service. When reserving the hotel or checking in, Marriott personnel did not tell me the rates increase on the nights that fall on a weekend. The room was definitely not worth the weekend rate. I would not stay at this Marriott again.

Room Tip: Find a Marriott with air conditioning.

We are disappointed to read that you did not enjoy your stay at our resort. The resort is not a typical hotel experience and provides guests with many additional amenities, services, activities and villa accommodations. However, there is no restaurant at the resort. A change of rate during times of higher occupancy is not uncommon. However, this is noted on your confirmation and the resort cannot randomly change a rate once you check-in.

This paragraph does not relate to the hotel directly and I am going to include it in all my Colorado reviews. If you are staying at Vail, please know that it is at a height of 8,150 feet (2484 m) above sea level. If you are coming in from sea level give yourself enough time to acclimatize to the altitude or else you will feel very sick. Drink a lot of water keep yourself well hydrated, don't over exert yourself. We went to the local City Market and bought Altitude Adjustment pills and they worked like a charm. If you are travelling with older folk as I was you might want to keep Oxygen on hand. You can go to the general store in Vail Village and get it from there. Small cans are 10$ (3-4 puffs) larger ones are 52$ and are refillable at that location. Or as someone suggested you can ask your doctor for Diamox. Or else you can get a bottle of Oxygen at the doctor's in Vail but you need a prescription. Please don't take altitude sickness lightly.

We stayed at the Streamside Birch for the first time. I booked it because it had a kitchen, we are vegetarians and fussy ones at that. We stayed on the third floor, we had a villa with one bedroom with a queen bed and 2 sofa beds in the living room, 2 baths and a full kitchen. The bed was comfortable the sofa beds were ok. There is no air conditioning but there were fans in all rooms ( rather noisy ones at that). The kitchen had all kinds of cutlery, pots, pans , mixers a coffee maker etc that we could use. it was very convenient. Also convenient was the proximity of the hotel to Safeway and City Market which are on the opposite side of the highway as the hotel. The hotel provides a shuttle that drops and picks you up from where you want. In the 2 days we were there we went all over Vail by the shuttle , they were very prompt and helpful.

I didnt have any problem with this hotel. Booking the rooms was easy so was check in and check out. They had laundry facilities, front desk and the Chief engineer Derek were very helpful. I would definitely stay here again. It cost me 170$ a night which was what I was expecting to pay for a room with a kitchen!

Room Tip: get a room at a higher floor. The noise level is less and the views are better.

I agree with the comments about darkness, uncomfortable very outdated furniture and loud road noise. It can also see that it would be very uncomfortable in the summer months; even in the spring it is difficult to cool off, at least in the room I had. It is not up to usual Marriott standards and needs a total renovation to get there. It is reasonably priced for Vail but one must remember Vail is a VERY EXPENSIVE town. I did not experience the bed bugs but one review stating they exist should be taken seriously. I have never experienced them despite traveling often in the Third World but friends who have assure me that it is a very bad experience and comments which mention them should not be ignored. I would not stay here again. I wrote a very similar review to Marriott and never received an answer.

Room Tip: I was only in three rooms to visit friends and they were all the same. I do believe that the higher...

We just returned from a week's stay at the Marriott Streamside and enjoyed our stay with this resort. I had read some so so reviews about the age of the resort and it needing upgrading. We disagree. The resort had everything we needed on site, was well appointed, with great service. We were on an exchange week through our time share.

We stayed in the Birch building on the top floor. Our unit was updated, well laid out and had excellent amenities. The bed was very comfortable with great linens. We like to cook in when we ski and the kitchen was really well equipped. Their shuttle service is very convenient and makes it easy to get to and from the slopes. We really enjoyed soaking in their hot tubs, and relaxing in their sauna. We tried the steam room but found it had an unpleasant smell and was really loud.

If we decide to ski the Vail area again we would definitely consider staying at the Streamside.

Stayed at Streamside Birch for the first time. Had previously stayed at Aspen (name may have been changed). Resort is clean and convenient but not fancy. Location is about 2.5 miles west of Vail Village (West Vail) but there is a convenient shuttle that runs up there. Property is ride on the Gore Creek Bike Trail and you can ride for miles in either direction. Amenities include a hot tub, indoor/outdoor pool, fitness facility and a racquet ball court. Staff was courteous and efficient. Unit (studio) was comfortable and well appointed. Only issue we had was with wasps that had established themselves in an overhead kitchen light. Exchange rate was very favorable and we'd definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Rooms on the south (back) side of this facility would be quieter although highway noise is not disru...

Streamside at Vail, what can you say about this property... first off, this is the first vacation club Marriott ever built. I think the key to enjoying yourself here is knowing the property is dated. Having said that, we loved our stay here. The front desk is awesome! Scott and Bru were very friendly and courteous! The villas are clean and huge! 2 bedrooms sleep 10 and 1 bedrooms sleep 6. For the price there is no better bang for your buck. They have shuttles that run like every half hour so you can get by without a car if u had to. I read other posts on how this place is dark and not to Marriott standards. I would have to disagree. Our villas had tons of windows and clean. There is no a/c in the units but guess what, most of the hotels up here do not so that pretty standard. They have daily activities for adults and children, so a great place to stay for families! I would def stay here again!

This location has three building - Birch, Douglas, and Evergreen. We stayed at Birch building and found that it was not that great.

In Marriott website, they showed great pictures of this hotel with the stream and outdoor jacuzzi, but they do not tell you that the hotel is right next to the I-710 highway. Douglas and Evergreen are in the back by the hill, but Birch is right there by the highway. We stayed in a one-bed room unit. There's no air-conditioning in the unit. With the water heater in the living room closet, the pilot of the fire place still on, and the humid weather in July, it was extremely hot in the unit and we had to open the sliding door and windows to get some breeze. But then we had to put up with the really loud traffic on the highway. However, the amenities are not bad there. The beds are comfortable, the bathroom is nice and the kitchen has everything. The house keeping staff are great. They were quick to bring us the supplies when we asked and were very polite. However, the engineer department were not so good. We had problem with the TV and the front desk said they were sending the engineer over, but they never showed up, and we had to call the next day again.

The closest jacuzzi to the building is very small and next to the highway, so we decided to walk up to the club house and use the outdoor jacuzzi there, which was pretty nice and good size.

The hotel provides free shuttles to Vail Village and Lionhead Village. It is great to take them during the busy time, especially the Saturday famer's market. However, they are not always available, so it's important to find out the schedule beforehand.

Room Tip: Make sure to reserve Douglas or Evergreen and avoid Birch.
