I understand they have a new Kitchen Manager. Place is always empty for dinner and food is was over priced for the quality. I think they need to re-price with a new menu. I also think they should take the old sushi place that is empty and make it into a pizza place so families have a place to eat that is more family friendly and cheaper.

I appreciate you taking the time to fill out a review of our restaurant and your comments. Our menu changes several times a year based on seasonality and products available. I hope you come back throughout the year to see the variety of products we serve. We work hard to be family friendly and do have a variety of pizzas and small plates on our menu that are filling and less expensive than the entrees. If you are back in Vail, please contact me.

We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and the ambiance of a hotel restaurant. We most often leave the hotel for dinner, but after three days of skiing and a little tired we decided to stay at the hotel. The menu was varied, there were two rooms with fireplaces going, and everything tasted very good.

Located in the Vail Cascade Hotel & Spa, Atwater on Gore Creek was a superb dining experience. The dining room was beautiful wood paneled series of rooms with large floor to ceiling windows with intricate chandeliers and a fireplace, creating a warm, inviting place to have a special meal. The six of us were impressed by the quiet dignity of the space. We could actually hear each other. The wait staff was polite and attentive without hovering. The warm spinach salad with thinly sliced apple and artichokes and dressed with a kumquat vinaigrette, was delicious. Others had a wonderful Caesar salad, and one us had the pheasant and wild rice soup that lived up to the hype. The short rib entree was a huge boneless portion rendered free of most of its fat and served over a bed of perfectly roasted winter vegetables. Others enjoyed a thick piece of albacore tuna seared rare served with a choice of two sides. The short rib was nicely complemented by a a Beringer Cabernet, and the tuna by a Sonoma Cutrer Chardonnay. The desserts were tempting, but we were all too full! The tab was less expensive than comparable quality restaurants and felt to represent good value. Highly recommended, Atwater should not be missed.

Love the ambiance of this restaurant. Big windows with great views. The ahi tuna tacos and pheasant soup were amazing. Also our waitress, Lauren, was the best waitress I have had in a while.
