Don't waste your time or money at other Colorado ski areas. Excellent ski area with first rate amenities at a value price. Excellent guest service as well. We live in Colorado Springs and headed to Steamboat later year at this time. Needless to say, we will we not be driving there again.

Amazing views. The concierge at the Sonnenalp was very helpful in providing trail maps and helping us pick a trail.

we have been going to Vail for about the past 20 years. There are runs for everybody. From beginner to advanced, the choices are endless. Groomed or ungroomed...your choice. The only place to ski with endless blue sky

Liked the free buses and the heated paths to stop the unintended slips and the ski school was excellent and way better than any group European experience.
Of course the warm weather mean that first week snow was disappearing fast and packed powder became a euphenism for slush and ice, but well set up although pricey.
The Chinese restarant in east Vail was superb as was the supermarket but the accommodation in West vail where we stayed was miles from everything and for some unknown reason all the US maps were upside down which was annoying for a pedant like me.
I did not enjoy the long flight although unlike some of the US borders, the staff were reasonably polite even if the advice I was given from the US web site about permitted imports was allegedly completely wrong or were they being job worths? After a 9 hour flight and little sleep I was in no mood to argue and would have lost anyway.

We were there the 2nd week of October and the highest peaks were snow covered but the valleys still had some golden and red leaves on the trees. Evenings were around 35 degrees and daytimes nearly reached 70*. Couldn't have picked better weather for walking the Vail Village!
