“Great pool and location!”
Reviewed July 25, 2013 via mobile

Wonderful resort located within walking/biking distance from Lionhead or Vail Villages. The path runs along the river, and is just steps from the resort itself. The same river is also visible from the pool area, allowing you to enjoy the sound of rushing water, as well. The pool area is perfect, though it can get pretty packed during prime times. It's heated, has a delicious pool-side bar and restaurant, fire pit, and spacious jacuzzi.

The front desk and concierge were both extremely helpful throughout our stay, giving recommendations on restaurants and also giving us complimentary late checkout after learning my husband and I were celebrating our 8th anniversary.

The only concern we had with our stay was when we rented bikes at the resort, the employee who helped us was not very knowledgable. Although very courteous, he had no idea how to install the child carrier attachment for our 9 month old. My husband is the one who figured it out. We then rode our bikes with the carrier to the Village, meanwhile thinking the carrier didn't
accommodate her very well, just to find out it was meant for children 18 months or older. She was 9 months too young for the carrier! The staff should have
been aware of this, as it was a serious safety issue.

Overall though, it was a great stay, and we would certainly recommend it to our friends and family.

Town of Vail is just a stone's throw away or better yet, a delightful walk on the paved riverside trail when the only sound you'll hear is birdsong, lively water cascading over boulders and the occasional "on your left" because it's also a beautiful cycling path as well. The location couldn't be better, away from it all and yet right next door.I always make sure I get a riverside room on the 2nd floor with french style doors opening onto the balcony, great place to have your coffee early in the morning, breathe in that fresh, piney air and listen to the quiet. I've been here off-season when I've had the infinity pool all to myself, had wonderful massage at the spa and gracious hosts. I've been here in high season too, great food in the dining room, lively atmosphere, relaxing hot tubs down by the river and congenial staff. I've recommended this hotel to many and have never heard a negative criticism of this hotel.

Room Tip: The only caveat: If you have noisy people next door, the rooms are not very sound proof and that ca...

Dear doreen j.
Thank you for your loyalty as a guest! It’s great to hear that you enjoyed all the things that make Vail Cascade so unique. From our award-winning spa and fitness center to our craft beer program and our secluded location on Gore Creek, there’s really no place like Cascade. The next time you visit, be sure to check out the specials in Aria Spa and in Atwater in advance of your arrival – they usually have several great promotions to take advantage of.

As a valued guest, we know others will appreciate reading your recommendations. We are looking forward to seeing you soon.

We stayed at The Vail Cascade and as always we were delighted! They accommodated an early check- in as I had been doing SAG for my husband doing The Triple By-Pass Bike Ride and I had our small dog with me. It is a very pet friendly resort and my husband and I really appreciate that and so does our little Lucy! We had a beautiful room on the lower level that allowed us to take Lucy out there and also for my husband to just walk out our door and go fishing on the Gore River! As I was struggling with Lucy a bit checking in , the bellman, Steve, was wonderful and very helpful. We have stayed here many times and it NEVER disappoints!

Room Tip: Some of the lower level rooms are larger than regular rooms and you might have a beautiful step dow...

The staff really makes this hotel. They are warm, welcoming and very informative of the area. We were there for 2 days on our honeymoon and when I told the front desk that, she complementary upgraded our room to a suite, and it was a beautiful suite. We went all over Colorado that week (Vail, Salida, Del Norte and Durango) and believe it or not, this was the nicest and least expensive room we stayed in. The room not only had a jacuzzi tub (a small single person one but still a very nice tub) but it also had a sauna which was a really neat touch. Anything a person could need was with in a beautiful walking distance down the river walk or there was a complementary shuttle that could take you anywhere if you didnt feel like walking. I loved the location because it was a bit further from the real hustle and bustle of the center of Vail village or Lion's head but still conveniently close. Just perfect! I was sad to leave it

Room Tip: Stay at the main hotel. Rooms can sometimes be a bit of a walk from your car, use the bellhop they a...

We love walking or taking the shuttle into Vail Village while we stay a couple miles out at Vail Cascade Resort. This is our third stay at this hotel. Always request a room overlooking the creek but not room 231 or numbers right around there. Too noisy from the music that is playing all day and then even louder at night from the bar. But rooms on this side of the hotel overlook the creek and the mountains. Just beautiful with a balcony. Some things in the room are a little "tired" but it's acceptable. Could not get comfortable with the pillows provided.

Room Tip: See above. Second floor is the best.

My family stayed at the Vail Cascade Resort for a long weekend in July. The resort itself was beautiful. The pool was small, but nice, and our kids loved it. Staff was very helpful and pleasant.

Unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed by our room. When my wife called to book, she was up-sold into getting a "Penthouse Suite". To be clear, the "Penthouse" is not actually on the top floor of the hotel, as one would assume. Instead, it's a separate building (attached by an enclosed walkway) that is simply named "The Penthouses". A little bit misleading if you ask me.

When we got there, we were informed that our unit had no AC (upon hearing this my wife recollected that she was told this AFTER having booked the non-refundable room over the phone). The condo was an absolute sauna and only after having opened all of the doors (there are no windows in most rooms) and placing floor fans around the unit for 24 hours were we able to make it tolerable. Not knowing any better, we just assumed that this was the mountains and people didn't use AC (which we didn't really have a problem with). The amenities of the unit were also a bit underwhelming (~20 inch tv in the master bedroom, no furniture on deck, appliances that looked 20+ years old, broken faucet in the kitchen). It wasn't until we saw the actual resort hotel rooms (which looked quite nice in comparison), as well as some other condos around the mountain, that we realized we got ripped off. For example, for ~$100 less/night, we could have stayed at a much nicer unit at the Ritz Carlton.

I called the General Manager's office before we left to let them know that we were dissatisfied with our unit. The General Manager was not in, but I did leave a message with whomever answered the call. They asked why we didn't call earlier, which was a fair question, but to be honest, I didn't understand how badly we were ripped off until I saw some other units around town (including others on the Vail Cascade property). Other than that, they explained that the "Penthouse" units are privately owned and they have no control over the amenities/furnishing. They suggested that if we decided to return, that the Westhaven units were actually much nicer.

In summary, if you're thinking about staying at the Vail Cascade, don't get suckered into staying in the "Penthouses".

Room Tip: Avoid the "Penthouse suites". They are not actually on the top floor of the hotel, but in...

Dear Gabe K,
First of all, thank you for being honest and sharing your experience. From what it sounds like, your overall did not meet your expectations, as well as ours. I appreciate you providing us with detailed feedback on your stay in one of our penthouses. Each of our penthouses are individually owned and we work very closely with each owner to ensure their units meet a high standard (as well as the expectation of our guests), therefore the feedback you provided will be shared with them.

To ensure the quality of each penthouse unit, Vail Cascade Condominiums participates in the Lodging Quality Assurance (LQA) program, a community-wide initiative established to improve the quality and value offered by the Vail Valley's lodging properties. Under the LQA, a third-party rates each property platinum, gold, silver or bronze, depending on its quality, condition, furnishings, appointments and other details. We then price the unit accordingly and try to provide very competitive rates in comparison to similar products in Vail.

To help our guests familiarize themselves with our accommodation offerings, we provide detailed information, as well as pictures, of each and every one of our units on our website. This way, our guests know exactly what unit they’re booking specifically. We would encourage you to check it out should we have the opportunity to have you again.

I do hope you give us another chance to earn back your loyalty and I personally invite you to call me directly if I can make your next visit more enjoyable. Again, we appreciate your honesty and will take this feedback as a learning opportunity.

Sincerely,
Russ Craney

Beautiful hotel! Stayed in the Mountain Cascade Suite and used American Airlines miles for the room. All we had to pay was a resort fee of $28. Parking garage is free in the summer. We had dinner an outstanding shirt rib sandwich the Atwater Grill for dinner and breakfast in the room on the private patio overlooking the river and mountain. Loved it! We took both evening and morning strolls on the walkway right behind the hotel. Teenager daughters loved the pool, hot tub and then warming up by the outdoor fireplaces in the evening. I’m not a skier but if I was this would be the perfect hotel. Everything you need is conveniently located in or around the hotel including the ski lift right outside the hotel doors. The young man who checked us in was wonderful ~ his superior customer service from the very start of our stay made the trip even better.
