Overall a solid place to stay when visiting Vail- clean, affordable, well connected to town through shuttles and buses; but this is nothing's fancy and is a little out dated. Great for families with a full kitchen and condo style places, and enough space to enjoy a night in. You are most likely in Vail to get outside, ski, and explore so this place does the trick when you don't want to pay Vail Village prices but not nice enough to stay home all day if expecting a cozy cabin. Beds weren't the best but sufficient enough. On the positive- clean!

This is an excellent lodging option in the town of Vail. While it is located on the opposite side of I-70 from the center of Lionshead, it is an easy walk and conveniently served by three city buses and two resort vehicles every hour. All take you directly to the best drop off areas in town. A great indoor-outdoor pool and hot tubs, all with views of Vail mountain. Reasonably priced.

First off if you are adventurous Vail is a great resort to go skiing at but you need to get out there and explore it.

Sandstone is great for family of four.... it makes it reasonable and affordable with good accommodations. Great pool for the kids. .. heated perfectly during the winter. FREE Parking at sandstone many properties charge $20 -$40 per night and the town structures are $25 Parking at base of Beaver Creek is free. They provide a great shuttle service to and from Vail, usually the 9:30 or 10 will be crowded and the 3 or 3:30 return otherwise very comfortable.

No real complaints but don't expect to be at a fancy resort. It is dated but if they would upgrade they would raise prices or become difficult to get exchanges. We love it and has really become our spring break go to. We are headed back for the fifth straight year March 2014.

I was thoroughly disappointed by the Sandstone Creek Club unit (north of Vail). Granted, we picked it up as a timeshare exchange, so lowered our expectations as a result. Understand that Sandstone Creek is across the highway from Vail and perched just above the I-70 highway. It's close to the bus stop, etc, but you'll have to accept the LOUD highway noise. After checking in, we found a luggage trolley, then trudged through the snow with our bags, groceries, etc. No help offered by front desk folks. Not that we asked, but none was offered. After finally locating the unit, we dragged our stuff through the narrow, dark hallway and into the unit. Once inside, we took a look around and then never even unpacked our bags. The unit was so dark, outdated & dingy (found hairs on the pillowcase?!) that we left and got a hotel in Beaver Creek. I cannot believe that this resort, and this unit at Sandstone, have earned the same high (gold palm) timeshare rating on Interval International as the elegant, beautifully run Poste Montane in Beaver Creek. I doubt Sandstone Creek Club resort has had an update since the 1990s. They claimed on the phone that their units are updated every 6 years. Impossible & implausible, unless furniture, appliances, carpet, linens, antiquated & cramped bedrooms & baths are exempted from the 6-year renovation rule. It's an embarrassment to Interval International.

Room Tip: Don't stay here!!

Sandstone facilities pretty good & the shuttle works for skiing still like most places in US need a car to get around. The condos are good albeit a little dated, but warm and comfortable, pools and other amenities also pretty good in terms of value for money, but the staff really need to work on their relationships and even pretend that they care, they normally don't ! have sat in car and hallway for oover an hour waiting to get into our room before 4 pm after travelling for 20 hours or so to get ther, not very welcoming and it wouldn't take much to change this.

The Sandstone Creek Club is a modest-sized group of condos/timeshares on the north side of I-70, about a mile-and-a-half from downtown Vail. A nice creek (Red Sandstone Creek) runs near the patios and decks of the units, providing a burbling noise that partially muffles the sounds of traffic on I-70; traffic noise is more muffled for the units farthest from the freeway, which is roughly 500 feet away. We stayed in a two-bedroom unit on the ground floor, which was a bit gloomy. The rooms are relatively large, but some are long and narrow, including the master bathroom where only a child is small enough to sit on the toilet without removing the roll of toilet paper.

Our unit was equipped with a safe, a gas fireplace, a full-sized kitchen, washer/dryer, abundant storage space, flat-screen TVs, good wi-fi (free), and four chairs and a table in the patio. There is a nice indoor/outdoor heated pool and two sizable hot tubs. There is limited covered parking as well as a nearby bus stop. There is a large collection of DVD's, which can be borrowed overnight for free. Staff was helpful.

We visited during an off-season week, which has its advantages and disadvantages, both at the Club and in the area. Many restaurants in the area were closed (not always indicated on their websites), while others offered two-for-one entrees. Back road gates were still closed, though the snow was gone. Parking in Vail and Beaver Creek was free. At the Club, there were paint fumes and occasional noise from maintenance work; it was only partly occupied, so movies were available and few people were using the pool.

We had no complaints. But don't expect to be at a fancy resort. It was entirely adequate, but a bit dated, too close to the freeway, and too far to walk to Vail (unless you need exercise).

Room Tip: Upper floors are probably better and as far from the freeway as possible.

We got and “Extra Vacation Getaway” thru RCI and really enjoyed the Sandstone Creek Club. We had a 2 bedroom which worked great for our family. Had a full kitchen so we ate in most days. When you look at the pictures online you can tell this place isn’t the Ritz with its brick interior walls, but those walls and concrete floors make the place very quiet, which I really appreciate! The indoor-outdoor pool was excellent but I found the SPAs to be way too hot. Could only stay in them a few minutes. The private shuttle from the resort worked out real well and they drop you at Lionshead or Vail Village which is real convenient. We would definitely go back again!
