We had a wonderful stay at Sandstone Creek. The folks at the front desk are very helpful. Check in was quick. The skiing is the best. There were no lines at the lifts in January. It’s awesome skiing and the view from the top is breathtaking. The gondola is free after 2:00 p.m. for the non-skiers. Vail Village has plenty of shopping, however a bit pricey. The cobblestone streets in Vail Village and Lionshead are heated so you don’t have to worry too much about walking on snow. It was nice to just stroll throughout the villages. Restaurants vary from pubs to fine dining. Vail is not a cheap place to visit, but you can still go and have a memorable vacation. We sure did! People from all over the United States and other countries visit and were all very friendly, maybe it’s because their on vacation and it is very picturesque. The resort is comfortable. We made friends with other families while in the pool and hot tubs. The swimming pool is great, you swim under a glass wall and you are outside, it was great. There’s a small gym that I used, no one else was in there when I was working out. We had a two bedroom for a family of five. We were comfortable. I have three college students and there was enough space. They had their own bedroom and bathroom, TV and DVR. The washer & dryer is great to have in the room, as some of the clothes get wet from skiing. Shuttles run regularly throughout the day from Sandstone to Vail Village & Lionshead, so my young adults were able to come and go as they wanted. You really don’t need a car, but we had one and found it very convenient. We took an hour’s drive to the Glenwood Hotsprings and this was a great experience. You pay for the day to swim and it’s a very surreal experience. We spent the day at Glenwood and enjoyed walking around this old town and enjoyed a great meal. The drive from Denver to Vail is just beautiful as was the drive to Glenwood Springs. I would love to see this part of our country in the summer. America is beautiful.

Have stayed at the Sandstone Creek Club the last 2 years. It is technically a time share property, but you can cent from owners if you don't own there, and if you are looking for lodging in Vail for a bigger group, this has a lot of upside. I have stayed at many places in Avon and Vail over the last 20 years, and it holds up well for a variety of reason
Highlights
1. Large, well appointed condos with ample storage, separate ski storage, well equipped kitchens, and room for everyone. We cooked a lot of meals in the room, which makes family vacations a lot more affordable and easier than dealing with food lines at ski lodges. Rooms have most everything you can need, Nice TV's, humidifiers, blowdryers, washer dryer, iron, etc. Makes traveling more comforable
2. Great hot tub/pool/steam sauna
3. Free shuttle to lionshead and Vail Village on frequent basis, the drivers are excellent and accommodating if you have special needs and tip occasionally. Also, they offer a twice a day shuttle to the grocery store, so really no reason to rent a car.
4. Great location, less than 5 minute drive to Village
5. Wifi is not free, but very reasonable and they do have free internet in the lobby if you are just checking email occasionally.

Lowlights
1. This is condo living, not Ritz, so if you want to be pampered, go elsewhere
2. Management does not give hotel quality customer service, very hands off and fend for yourself. Do not expect to check in early or check out late, so plan your travel in/out accordingly. They will not accommodate you,

I recently stayed in a one bedroom condo at Sandstone Creek Club and was very pleased with the room quality and the size of the unit. I am very familiar with hotels and residences in Vail, and I have not seen this type of value at many other places in the area.

My unit had a nice balcony, gas fireplace, flatscreen, comfortable furniture. Pull out sofa bed. The living room looked like it had been taken care of and updated. 1 bedroom, 2 full baths, washer/dryer, kitchen. Kitchen was the best part- had marble counters, tile floors, dishwasher. Lots of utensils, dishes, etc. Literally everything you need to cook for a family. Table with seating for 4-6 people. Bar with 2 chairs but room for 4.

There's a nice indoor/outdoor pool, some indoor hot tubs, and a private shuttle to Vail Village (Vista Bahn) and Lionshead Village(Gondola). This service is free, it runs pretty frequently. It will take you to the grocery store if you need. The free town of vail public bus has stop right at the top of the driveway. 5 min ride to vail village. You can see Vail Mountain and Lionshead Village from some of the balconies, it's right across the highway and slightly west. There's also a "game room" area with foosball, etc. DVD rental @ front desk. ($1 per, i think) Do a google image search, there are some pretty good photos of the pool and some of the rooms.

All of the units are timeshares, and I think all of the units are identical. The rooms are really nice and the nightly rates are much lower than others of this quality. The low rate is not because of the units, it's because you don't get the type of customer service that you do in some hotels. Housekeeping service is only once per week . Most of the staff is pretty friendly but they just don't seem to have a lot of staff on the property at once. If you call to ask for toilet paper they say something like, "sure, can you come down to the front desk and get it?"

Overall, I would definitely recommend this place and stay again. It was really nice having a lot of space and a full kitchen. Great room quality, location, and nice looking property.

Special thanks to Jeff for all of the help when I was booking my room.

We have stayed in many condos in Vail every year, and thought that this club was the best!~~

My husband and I went with another couple and had a wonderful time! we hahd the largest condo, a 2 BR+LOFT, and enjoyed the large space very much with a view of the creek, mountains and pool.

All the ammenities, the friendliness and proffesionalism of all the staff and the location! what more can you say?

We just loved the heated indoor and outdoor pool, which we enjoyed every evening after a long day of skiing.

Check their website http://www.sandstonecreekclub.com/joomla/ for more details.

I also enjoyed the private shuttle services to the slopes as well as to the nearby stores (5mins) -grocery and liquor stores-so you don't need to drive there.

The condos are usually on a weekly basis, but still a great value!

And if you are lucky you may be able to stay only a few nights based on the availability!

Give it a try and you will agree with us!

Sandstone Creek is an excellent place to stay, especially for a week or two. Week 40 is perfect as most of the restaurants have off season specials such as Montauk dinner for $20!! The trees are bright yellow against the dark green pines. From our creek side unit, you can see across to the ski mountain. Scenery is gorgeous everywhere you look. The tennis court is well maintained and if you can take your eyes off the mountain views to watch the tennis ball, it would be amazing. Day time temps plus sun make it comfortable to be outside biking, hiking, walking around town in shorts.. Evenings are cool and the fireplace at Sandstone is a welcome sight. The large and crystal clean hot tubs and indoor/outdoor swimming pool is fantastic. Also have indoor sauna, steam and racket ball. Units are well furnished bedrooms, 2 baths and a well stocked, full sized kitchen. The unit has a furnished patio, too. The unit and the common areas are all spotless. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Common areas include a lobby, pool table, ping pong table, library, game room. The mattresses are fabulous. Open the window a crack and you can hear the creek running. I could go on and on, but I think you get the idea - this is the best place to stay, especially for an exteneded time, in the Vail Valley.

Stayed in a hotel unit at this resort. Room was nicely furnished, and clean. Hotel units do have a frig, microwave, coffee pot. Did not have an ironing board in the room, so had to request one, which showed up in minutes. All rooms have a humidifier, and you will need it at that altitude. No air conditioning, but none was needed as the room temp was never warm. Check-in was easy, and had no problems in that area. Staff was pleasant, and helpful. Clubhouse/front desk is closed from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Front desk has about 2,000 movies that are free for the guest. I saw a fox on the grounds everyday that I was there. Internet computers are in the clubhouse, and never had a wait for that. Resort is close to I-70 main highway, and easy to get to. Safeway is about 5 minutes away for grocery shopping. I ate breakfast twice at restaurant in the Holiday Inn. Good food, and service. Visited the Nature Center, where the Betty Ford Garden is located. Beautiful, and great place to get some nice pictures. Went to Cheyenne, WY to the Old West Museum, about a 2.5 hour drive from Vail. Nice stores at the Silverthorne Outlet Mall. Coldwater Creek, Bath & Body Works, Nike, to name a few.
Very peaceful this time of year. I have been to Keystone during ski season. Really enjoyed the area, and would go back.

Our family stayed for a week in early June 2010 and were very pleased with our stay. While it's not a fancy new resort, they clearly work hard to keep the property up. We've never stayed at a place with a nicer staff. They were always friendly and asking what they could do to help with our vacation plans.
We had a two bedroom unit that was spacious and clean. The kitchen was very well stocked with dishes and cooking items. We had 2 little safes to lock stuff up and a washer and dryer in the unit. Everything worked properly. They had literally a thousand different movies you could check out for free, which was a nice touch!
Since it's not a new property, the bathrooms are a little small and you won't find a jacuzzi tub, but it was still nice. We had a parking lot view, but weren't there to enjoy the view from indoors anyway.
Since it's a small property, there aren't a bunch of activities to participate in, which was fine because we were there to enjoy the amazing outdoors. The indoor/outdoor pool was fun for the kids and there generally weren't may people there. The kids enjoyed the free foosball, pool and air hockey tables and there were always little treats available in the lobby.
The property is north of the interstate, not part of the Vail village area, but again that was just fine. We had easy access to the interstate to travel to the endless recreational opportunities in the area. There was a Safeway just down the road to the west and anything else we needed in close proximity.
Overall, this is a small cozy resort that suited our family very well. We were treated very well, no unpleasant surprises, super fast check-in, easy checkout, just a nice experience!
A word of caution in Vail - follow the posted speed limits - we saw Vail Police pulling people over frequently.
