We've been staying in the cabins at Mt Elbert Lodge for over ten years. The setting, the value, and the hosts are the reasons we keep going back. Scott and Laura are always very accommodating hosts. The setting is peaceful and picturesque. We also love that we can take our dog along. It's a great area for snowshoeing in the winter and hiking and mountain biking in the summer and fall. It's close enough to Aspen and Leadville without being too close.

We loved our stay at the Mt Elber Lodge. We stayed in the Rinker Cabin. It had a lovely gas stove fireplace and a well-equipped kitchen. We brought a few cooking supplies, so we never had to leave the cabin! We did venture out for a couple of snowshoeing adventures-- and took advantage of the outdoor hot tub while it was snowing. Very fun! The town of Twin Lakes is about a 10 minute drive down the road-- it seemed that most of the town was closed during the winter season. Leadville and Buena Vista are each about 30 minutes away. This is a great place to stay if you want to get away from it all, not so great if you want to frequent eateries and shopping.

We stayed in "The Barn", which was perfect for our group of 7 people and 2 dogs. The lodging was great. But the best part was being able to walk right out the door and snowshoe the creek bed. Fantastic for our group since we had several who were on snowshoes for the first time. More challenging snow shoe adventures were also just a 10 min drive away. And then hitting the hot tub in the evening under the stars to ease tired muscles was a perfect end to the day.

We found this lodge by "googling" Twin Lakes, CO. The photos on their website don't do the scenery justice. We were pleasantly surprised to see the highest peaks from the Elk Cabin (attached to the office). Even better, we had a special rate that was posted on their website and received three nights for the price of two. We did have one of the two cabins with internet and television (yes, we are spoiled) and the internet connection was fast enough and easy to connect. Even our cell phones worked, although we were told that not all do. All in all, Mt. Elbert Lodge and Cabins is a place we will plan on visiting again. Leadville, just a few minutes drive north did have restaurants open. Cold weather came while there and we didn't go on any of the trails around. But for the brave, there are trails accessible.

Scott was extremely helpful and the rate was outstanding. The Barn Cabin had the most incredible location and I can't wait to go back for many more trips. The kitchen was very well stocked. My family absolutely loved it!
