“Beautiful, tranquil bed and breakfast/gîte and a fantastic welcome.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 9, 2012

We stayed at La Ferme des Isles this weekend in the rivière bedroom. I think it is the best bed and breakfast I have ever stayed in. The owners are friendly, welcoming and bend over backwards to make your stay perfect. The attention to detail is outstanding. We arrived mid-afternoon and were greeted by the hostess who served us soft drinks. The next day the breakfast was delicious. Afterwards, we walked around the property and discovered the vegetable plot, the different animals and the river. The host gave us a guided tour of the property. All in all a wonderful and relaxing stay. Highly recommended!

A wonderful 2 night stay at La Ferme des Isles. Francois and Sophie have spent two years lovingly coverting an old farmhouse and barn into the kind of place that you don't want to leave. We stayed in the Suite Soleil, which has the most amazing bathroom, including a double shower and a circular sink. The Suite Soleil is at one end of the barn, with the Chambre Foret at the other. The other rooms are in the main house. The attention to detail and design is evident everywhere, and the eclectic collection of items in the barn adds real character. The property is surrounded by fields and bordered by a river - there is a swimming place at a bend in the river if it is warm enough for a dip, or if you are just feeling brave. It is so quiet, there are no sounds to wake you up in the morning, except maybe the coo-ing of the doves. We had dinner the first night, which was most enjoyable - both the food and the company - four courses, with all the vegetables from the garden, trout from the river, and the sweetest, most fragrant strawberries, and conversation in French, Italian, Dutch, Spanish and English. Breakfast was tip-top too, with fresh croissants, bread, about 9 different types of jam, fresh juice and fruit, and eggs from the farm hens. The guest book is a papier mache cow, which you are invited to decorate.

We went to Monet's Garden at Giverny which is about 30 minutes away, and Sophie kindly booked and printed out tickets to take with us, which meant that we could jump the long queue There are lots of other places to explore around there, which unfortunately we didn't have time to - on this visit anyway!
