In Europe, the Via Ferrata are known as the "Iron Roads". While not as popular in the US, Canada has a couple of routes. Telluride is hidden in Southwest Colorado in a spectacular canyon. Reminiscent of the Alps, the San Juan Mountain Range is gorgeous. The Via Ferrata skirts the Box Canyon wall high above the canyon floor directly East of the town of Telluride. You will get unbelievable views of Telluride and the rest of the canyon looking out to the West. The trail is for the most part walkable, but there are areas of very little rock to walk on and you will be glad to be harnessed into the cable. If you are scared of heights this may be an issue, but for anyone else it is a thrill and a ton of fun. Go earlier in the morning to mid-morning so you can take your time and not get caught by afternoon thunderstorms. You do not want to be on the wall during a storm. You are extremely exposed!
If you are not comfortable on your own, contact San Juan Mountain Guides, they are the bomb!

For the more daring adventurer, travel through Telluride up into Box Canyon. You may want to ask a local where the Via Ferrata starts and ends. You also may want to consider two cars or someone to ferry you as the start and end points are miles apart.
You will need a harness to strap into the cable.
This really is a cool deal most people don't even know exists in Telluride. Have an awesome time!
