We live in Telluride and this is OUR favorite place to eat. The owners care about their guests, the price fix specials help control spending which is tough in a resort town. The dependability of getting a great meal is never an issue. Critical to us is that it is possible to hold a conversation as it is NOT loud. Not true for some of our towns other restaurants. Beet salad is a must, the sorbets are also fantastic. There is a larger table upstairs if you want to book a private dinner for a larger group. I always just say bring me today's best entree, and they surprise me.

Wonderful casual country French in a handsome former ice house.
Had a perfect pork belly app., girlfriend had a great raosted beet salad with excellent goat cheese wontons.
A difficult choice for entrees, we both decided on the short ribs, which were wonderful, alongside a roasted tomato/zuchini/ mashed potato base.
fro dessert, had a creme caramel with sauteed carmelized apples, as well as a very nice molten chocolate torte with an expresso ice cream side.
greta service, we founfd the bar dining area more inviting, and the attentive Nick did a fine job of looking after us.

Don't miss La Marmotte when you visit Telluride. This bustling bistro is built into a rustic chalet just a few steps from the Gondola Station in town and it is perfectly charming. The food is a touch on the hearty side and the wine list is somewhat limited, but remember you are secluded in a box canyon at 9000 feet and perfection is hard to attain. What I always enjoy about La Marmotte is that everything is served with care and panache and that the restuarant, even on the busiest of evenings, exudes warmth and charm. So, on a snowy night in ski season or on a rainy night in the summer, you simply can't beat this setting for a romantic evening for two or for a fun night out with friends. It may not be cheap, but the "set price" menu is very fair and, for my money, La Marmotte is the best place in town for a "tete a tete" dinner for two.

Lovely place, friendly staff, superb coq au vin and crime brûlée from $49 set menu. Staff a little harassed and forgot a couple of small requests, didn't top up wine regularly. Should do better with service for a restaurant with high aspirations.

A group of us had dinner here and it was a first time for all of us. We had a room to ourselves which was nice since we had a large group. The service was excellent and the food was delicious.
