“Wonderful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2013

Staying here made our first visit to Telluride a wonderful time. We really enjoyed staying in such a clean, comfortable, charming and delightfully updated hotel with so much charm and history. It was super quick and easy to check in and out. The staff was great, friendly and always wanting to help in any way. The location on Colorado Avenue, the main street through the heart downtown Telluride, was perfect with a cool bar and great restaurant on the main floor. Loved being so close to everything in town so we could leave the car parked the whole time there. On our next trip to Telluride, there will be no question as to where we will stay.

Your comments are kind and certainly reflect all that we feel our Telluride hotel represents for our guests.

Your comment about parking the car and never getting into it again is one of the particular pleasures of being in the heart of our small mountain town.

Thank you kindly,
Ray, GM

We really enjoyed our stay at the New Sheridan Hotel. The hotel has a lot of history with a classic Victorian decor but very clean and well taken care of. The room was spacious and comfortable in temperature and I really appreciated the extra touches such as the heated bathroom floor and the sound machine in the room. The staff was very help and friendly in the hotel and restaurant. We even had the opportunity to soak in the hot tub on the roof under the stars. Breakfast was wonderful and the convenience of being right there on Main Street was ideal for our stay. One of the best hotels I've stayed at in the mountains and we plan on coming back next year!

The purpose of this trip was to stay in five historic hotels in Southwest Colorado. I am so glad that the New Sheridan was on the list!

We arrived, after a short drive from Ouray, about 10 AM and our room was ready so we were able to check in. We unloaded in front of the hotel and were given a permit to park on a side street. Please note that Telluride has very restrictive parking rules; this should be no reflection on the hotel!

Our room was wonderful, on the second floor facing the court house. We were traveling during the off-season so all was quiet on the street below. However, ear plugs are provided in case the night life gets loud. Bed was exceptionally comfortable and the bathroom was well stocked. Mr. Farnsworth (general manager) and Beau (front desk) made us feel very welcome.

As Telluride has developed into a ski area, a lot of the old in town has been replaced with something newer. I am so glad that the New Sheridan still remains as a reminder of Telluride's mining town past!

Cozy rooms with stylish decor and ample storage; large, emaculate bathrooms generously supplied; and an friendly, efficient staff running their popular bar and charming dining room located right on Main Street! The photos throughout the hotel give you a good understanding of the community of Telluride, and the historic significance of this hotel. A keeper!

Thank you for your great comments. You are kind to write about our hotel in Telluride.

The sequences of pre-1900 gold rush days are a museum for Telluride itself. Thank you for noticing.

Hotel is right on Main Street, dead-middle of the restaurants and shops. If you are a "foodie" and bar/restaurant person, you're home. The hotel has THE steakhouse in it as we'll as a nice bar for drinks. Parking can be a pain as there is no parking lot, so make sure you get the parking pass for street parking. In all honesty, you may be 1-2 blocks away. Rooms are very clean and cozy... Yes, it can be a bit loud, but you need to know going into this that it is the location too.. They do a great job of giving you a "white noise" machine to help. We will be back frequently and will stay here.

Room Tip: Street front can be a bit noisy, so if you want to avoid this, as for a room on the back side... How...

I really want to give this property an excellent rating, but there were some issues that just didn't pass muster. I agree with prior reviews that this hotel is charming -- old West but updated nicely. The bar, palor and dining room have a great vibe. It sits right on Main Street, and yes, we had noise from the street but expected this issue based on prior reviews -- just part of the Tell experience. Here are my complaints: 1. We decided to stop for breakfast one morning on the way to the slopes -- the dining room was empty -- unfortunately empty of servers too -- after waiting we left for better service else where 2. We had an unpleasant odor in our room -- like something had been wet and had that musty smell -- advised front desk of issue and they did correct it but wonder why none of the staff detected it3. We arrived at our room at 3 pm with no housekeeping. When I called desk they informed me that" we have a large group checking in today so we are running behind" Really? You knew they were coming so why not get your housekeeping properly cued -- worse yet, it made me think that as an existing guest my time/ comfort was less important? Hmmm. 4. 1 of the hot tubs was out of order. These issues at a hotel with less overall charm would make me unwilling to return. However, I have found staff to be very helpful and high country friendly.Proximatey to gondola/chair a real plus. hope next time I am here I can give an unqualified review!

Room Tip: You will have noise from happy people on street -- if this is a concern, ask for a room in the back

Thanks for your comments.

We note your issue of the missing breakfast server in the main dining room and, as you know, we have two dining rooms for breakfast, so we will ensure that the one you were in has more consistently visible servers. Thanks for that.

Considering the late cleaning for your room, we are a small Telluride hotel and when we have almost all of our rooms turning over in one day, it is a challenge for us all (all hands on deck!) and, as you know, the housekeepers got to your room in short order. Unfortunately, your room was one of the last to be cleaned yesterday.

Thanks and we look forward to more good critiques that we can work with to improve.

We were blown away by the beauty and feel of this fullly renovated historic hotel. From the high ceilings of the room to the fun, historic photographs hanging on the walls, the hotel exudes an air of sophistication and days gone by. Aside from the "feel" of the place, the beds were heavenly, the decor exquisite, the furniture and bathrooms very comfortable, the hot tubs hot, and the service employees friendly and helpful. The food in the beautifully decorated restaurant was excellent, too. I could not have imagined staying anywhere else. We will definitely return.
