Having read the other reviews before I stayed here, the Bunkhouse Lodge was better than expected. I expected an old place in need of some updating, but it's a clean, modern motel. My window had a screen (unlike another reviewer complaint). While the address indicates that the motel is on the main road, it's actually far back from the road, behind the Steamboat Hotel, and backs to a large meadow or wetland. The two motels share a sign; the Bunkhouse Lodge's name is in smaller letters and therefore easy to miss--I suggest printing out the BH's directions if you don't have a navigation unit. I would have given a 5-star rating (on a value basis) except that the breakfast is too basic, just cereal, bread / muffins, juice and coffee. No real butter, but real half-and-half. You can pay extra for packaged microwaveable items.

Just back from a quick two night stay in Steamboat Springs. The purpose of the trip was to use a few of the ski days included on our Rocky Mountain Super Pass Plus. We usually visit Steamboat in the shoulder season and stay at the nicer properties such as the Steamboat Grand but had no desire to pay that much during ski season when all we needed was a place to rest our heads. Chose the Bunkhouse for it's consistent reviews on Trip Advisor and favorable price ($80/night). We were not disappointed! We expected basic motel quality rooms that were clean - and that's what we got. Bed looked a little uncomfortable at first but proved to be a good rest after a long day of skiing. The Lodge is convenient to the bus line (it stops right in front of the Super 8) which is nice for those with no cars. Didn't rely on the breakfast as we prefer a bigger breakfast out to hold us over while skiing but the selection was basic motel continental breakfast foods. Hot tub was clean and very hot - perfect for relaxing after a day on the slopes. Would we stay here again? If the price was right certainly! A good budget option for those visiting Steamboat in the busy season who don't want to break the bank.

If you're looking for a clean, quiet, inexpensive place to rest after a full day of skiing, this is the place. It's no frills, so if you're looking for ambience, you'll probably need to spend a lot more and stay somewhere else. We sneak away for mini-vacations a lot and always look for a bargain--however, cleanliness is a must. We decided to take a chance on the Bunkhouse Lodge based on the positive reviews on this site--it exceeded our expectations. Very quiet, had the hot tub to ourselves each night, and the place was very clean (staff even cleaned the stairwell during the day). We got an "internet-only" rate of $70, and booked the day before we tarvelled. Booked through Steamboat Central Resrvations: [-] Good luck!

We went to Steamboat Springs for one night on our way to the Rocky Mountain National Park. We enjoyed tubing on the Yampa River and the scenic drives in the area.

The Bunkhouse Lodge in is a decent hotel with some quirks. It is mainly focused at the winter season but it does accomodate travelers in summer too. The Lobby and breakfast area is pretty and we liked the moderate price, a very large, bright and clean room, good beds and fast internet. The room was very quiet as it was facing the moutains behind the building.

The hotel lobby closes at 10 and I was glad that I called them before making a reservation (I typically use the internet only), because we might have ended up with a reservation but nobody to check us in. The hotel is at the southern end of town, so you need a car to get around, which is no problem in summer. We were unhappy that there were no window screens, because behind the building, there is a swampy area generating a lot of mosquitos. This did not allow us to open the windows at night and let the fresh mountain air in. Also, the variety at breakfast was minimal. There was an issue upon checkout, as the quoted AAA rate was not honored, but eventually, the person at the front desk resolved it to our satisfaction.

A very pleasant surprise in Steamboat. My wife and I have stayed at many of the area hotels/resorts and we would definitely return to the Bunkhouse Lodge. How can you beat $110 a night in Steamboat during ski season for a clean, comfortable, and very quiet room (we did stay in a room facing the Valley and not Mount Werner). If you like a big breakfast, the continental one that is served here is not for you. I'm not sure what reviewer from January 28th is talking about when he mentions the very cold draft under the door. All room doors are interior hallway doors. Why spend $200 a night at the Holiday Inn across the street on Hwy 40 when you can the same type of room and get the same service at the Bunkhouse?

I spent one night in the hotel with my wife and our two yaer old daughter. There was kind of a bad oder in the room but we got used to it after a while. Turned the heat down before we went to bed. Woke up around Four a.m. shivering, got out of bed and noticed a very nasty cold draft blowing right through the room and out of the crack under the door. Got up to have breakfast around Eight. Found that the bagels were kind of hard, half the toaster was broken and was told by the person taking care of the breakfast area that she would be closing at nine...not Nine thirty like I was told. All in all, I would not recomend this place to anyone. I was not expecting five star service or anything but I guess you get what you pay for.

While there are many place to stay in Steamboats Spring that might be nicer, they are also more expensive. The Bunkhouse Lodge was a very nice place to spend a week while the Country Music Festival was in town. They service and staff went out of their way to make sure we were well taken care of. One of the girls went out of her way to help me fax a contract back to Austin for no fee. It;s clean, inexpensive, and the continental breakfast was nice. Nice lounge area and hottub.
