The West Condominiums
Reviewed December 19, 2012

We had an great time at this condo! It's a 5min walk to the gondola up the mountain and a 2min walk from all the buses and shuttles running through town. The condo we stayed in was a 1 room with FULL amenities; tv with cable, pots and pans, silverware and dishes, and an awesome bathroom completely stocked. The room itself was super cozy and warm, well decorated, and with a great view of the city. The hot tubs and a heated pool available well through the day/night are clean and well maintained. A grocery store and liquor store are within walking distance and there's a Safeway a 5 min drive away. Really you have everything you need and could want. All you have to think about is skiing! (Over 2 feet of fresh powder through our 2 day stay!!) we are making this a new annual trip!

Reading the review of your time spent here at The West Condominiums was a real treat. It sounds like you made the most of your visit by exploring the surrounding area as well. Thank you for mentioning the amenities within your condominium such as the fully stocked kitchen and bathroom with supplies. It is important to us that we provide our guests with these items and many other conveniences including the Steamboat Resorts shuttle service so that you can spend your vacation doing the fun and important things during your limited time visiting Steamboat Springs. The Powder Snow, for which Steamboat is so famous, has been amazing this year, and a great tribute to the 50th Anniversary of the Steamboat Ski Area. I am glad you were able to experience it first hand and that you will be coming back for more fun. The entire West Condominiums staff looks forward to your next visit and to help you have another fabulous vacation in our neck of the woods. We also wish you a wonderful 2013!

The one bedroom condo was very clean, however as noted in other reviews the kitchen was tiny. We visited for 2 days over the July 4th holiday, and it was hot (95+) and no air conditioning. If it was not at the end of our vacation, we probably would have spent more time out and about, but this was towards the end and I wanted to take a nap in the afternoon, but it was too hot. Other then that it was fine. Loved the free transit to downtown.

Thank you very much for your review of The West Condominiums during a recent summer stay. The July 4th weekend was a warm one this year backing up the fact that July is typically our hottest month with the average temperature being 82 degrees and the low being 41 degrees. You are right that The West does not have air conditioning. However, we make every effort to provide for multiple fans for our guests---one in each bedroom and one in the kitchen/living room area. Additional fans are available upon request---quite a few of our units also have ceiling fans. Regarding the kitchen, some of our one-bedroom units do have larger kitchens, which you can request upon making your reservation. We sincerely hope that you return to Steamboat Springs and that you give us a call directly to find the best possible accommodation for your time away. Again, thank you for letting us know about your lodging experience. Hearing from you helps us with property improvements and guest services.

Sincerely,

We booked here through VRBO and landed in a 1 bdrm condo with views of the resort village.. Lovely! Short easy walk to gondola and right across from free bus stop to town. Best part was getting off the slopes and hitting hot tub and pool do muscles did not ache! One downside is the size of kitchen - very small but we didn't mind and appreciated the nice dining area. It was 1/3 of the cost of ski in ski out & we didn't mind the short walk- perfect for us!

The West was just walking distance to the Gondola in Steamboat. Great amenities. Hot tubs were wonderful. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There is a "resort shuttle" that runs to and from the town center and the grocery store for your convenience. They make other stops for you as well. The pickup locations are easy to understand. Our condo was bigger than expected. It was clean and just so close to the mountain. We were very happily about that.

Steamboat all around has been one of my favorite ski locations. The town is very family friendly and everyone was so polite.

Thank you for your review of The West Condominiums and mentioning all of the positive aspects of your visit including our hot tubs which have an incredible view of the ski area. The convenience of our “walk-to-the-ski-area” property also offers close proximity to the base area restaurants, ski shops and activities offered by the merchants and The Steamboat Ski and Resort Corporation. I am glad you also found our shuttle service so useful, and we were delighted to hear about your experience and how much you enjoyed your condo unit. Steamboat’s plethora of activities, western heritage and family-friendly community are all great reasons to visit Steamboat Springs, and we hope to see you again at The West in the near future. Thanks again for staying with us and letting us be part of your ski vacation.

Had read some less than positive reviews so took a while to book, but we will be back. Easy walk to the gondola (3/5 minutes), leaving skis overnight at Christy Sports. A waste of time to take the bus to ski, but very good bus service to downtown and supermarkets.

Our 1 bedroom unit was very comfortable, with a well equipped kitchen. Staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, allowing us a late check out as well as a view of one of the few studio lofts for future visits.

Very homely and comfortable, really pleased with our choice (we stayed 7 nights). Why waste time getting a bus in and out from some near condos when its so easy to walk from The West?

My cousin and I just came back from a great time in Steamboat. I found this place online from reading many reviews, and also based upon its location. It is right across the street from Gondola Square. Although they have a shuttle that will take you over there, you can easily walk-takes less than 5 minutes. Our room was a studio suite on the lower level, kind of like a basement. We were right across from the laundry and supply rooms but it didn't at all matter. It was quiet and nice. Yes, the room would be considered a little 'dated', but we had a flat screen TV, gas fireplace, a pull out couch, and a murphy bed, a nice kitchen that was stocked with everything but salt and pepper. There were Aveda amenities and paper towels, T.P. I have stayed at many lodges and this one was normal to me. It was clean (we had one towel that looke dlike toothpaste had stained it so we put it on the floor) and very cozy.
I didn't mind walking down stairs. This is a ski town and most condos are either up or down without elevators.

The staff was no less than wonderful with recommendations and tips and help. They would have brought a hot chocolate to your room if they could have!
The shuttle buses are on call during the day, but you can call or the desk will call for you and they will come, either from downtown or from the condos. They do have scheduled stops at certain streets but if you ask, tghey will take you to the restaurant or grocery store if it is on their path. After 5pm, they run every 15 min until 11pm. After 11pm, just take the free city bus, which was real easy.

A word of advice, carry with you some change or $1 bills, b/c the condo shuttle drivers apparently get tipped. We didnt know that, and only tipped them a couple of times. THey are ALL super nice.

This was awesome and I'd stay here again- Can't wait to come back!!!!

First and foremost, many thanks to you and your cousin for staying with us at The West Condominiums. Secondly, I would like to thank you for taking the time to write a very sincere review about many facets of your stay. Our staff appreciates your wonderful comments regarding their efforts, as they and our incredible shuttle drivers strive to make everyone's stay very pleasant.

The West’s proximity to the ski area is commented on quite often as guests are pleasantly surprised by just how true the “across the street” location is and the ease with which to access all ski area amenities from here. In closing, we are delighted that your time at The West Condominiums and in Steamboat Springs was very enjoyable, and we look forward to your return visit.

Not fancy - but that's ok. Very clean - well appointed. Comfortable. Short walk to slopes. Very nice staff. We had 1 bedroom with loft. Our boys loved the loft. Wierd - at the bottom of the stairs is a brick fireplace...not too safe.
