It's nice to have a place in Steamboat that fits so many needs. Whether it's a nine-hole tee-time (or 18), a place you don't have to commit 6 hours to when the town fills up, or your don't feel like taking your out of town guests somewhere that costs over $100 to play, Steamboat Golf Club fills a lot of gaps in this small town. The course may be shorter in length than some but many holes still present challenges and the scenery is picturesque. I also appreciate the many options of early season punch card rates, reasonable membership opportunities (if someone is willing to sell), and just affordable rates in general. It's also nice to pay $3.00 for a beer instead of $6.00. I play all of the courses in town, but this one seems to be forgotten by many and it really shouldn't be. Fun, flat, trees, water, shade and plenty of opportunities to be aggressive. Arguably the best greens in the valley, but of course that's debatable throughout the season. Check out all of the courses while you're in town but don't forget this one.
