“Margaritas, o le!”
Reviewed April 4, 2013

Friendly wait staff. Food was average, first basket of chips were a bit stale, the rellenos were on the greasy side. We didn't pay enough attention to the menu to know they were not deep friend, which was not to our liking. The margaritas on the other hand were very tasty! We will try this place again on our next visit.

“Very average - or below”
Reviewed April 4, 2013

After having a great dinner at another establishment in town we had high hopes for finding another gem. It was not to be. The food was mostly canned/packaged and almost devoid of flavor. Thank goodness for the oversized margarita, to help wash it down.

“There must be two "The Cantina" restaurants in Steamboat...”
Reviewed April 3, 2013

....because the one so highly rated by other reviewers was not AT ALL as good as we were led to believe by the large amount of high praise that we read. We really wanted an excellent Mexican meal, which is why I consulted TripAdvisor to decide which one we should visit. For each if the four of us, The Cantina's lunch meals were barely mediocre....even if we were to downgrade our expectations to what we'd expect if we simply selected this restaurant when walking past it on the street. Their food was merely average and ordinary in every way, but not something to brag about. If they're this medicre at lunch, I can't expect that their evening meals would be any better. In addition, the waitress and/or the kitchen made 3-4 errors in providing what we ordered correctly and/or promptly. This compounded our disappointment and my embarassment for having been the one who chose this restaurant. All-in-all, this restaurant is simply OK, but not special in any way whatsoever.

My name is Jeff LaRoche, I am the owner of the Cantina. Could you kindly provide a bit more detail in your feedback so that I know exactly what parts of your meal you did not enjoy? I try to make sure our food comes out as consistent as possible and would really like to fix any issues you had with our food. Thank you for the review and my hope is that you will give us another shot next time to prove ourself to you as the best Mexican food around.

“fun place, lively, centrally located, like a never-ending party”

our "kids" like this place (it could be it's 'cause they play on the Cantina-sponsored ice-hockey team). quite lively, occasional live music, above-average Mex food (and more)

“Generous Margaritas and lots of Gluten Free options”
Reviewed March 15, 2013

LOVE that you cater for the gluten sensitive ... fantastic to be able to enjoy corn chips and salsa with my HUGE Margarita, and come home feeling good. Fajitas were excellent.
