I eat here every time I come to Steamboat. This season they improved the already good food quality. The prices are still reasonable ($15-$30 per entree). They started taking reservations Jan 2014, so you better make one to get a table on a weekend.

Our family of four ate at Mambo on Christmas Day and had a very good meal. We started with excellent calamari very light and high quality. The fresh bread was hot out of the oven and so good! My husband had the special, lobster far diavalo which was very good, balanced and had a nice kick. I had the pumpkin gnocchi with brown butter. It had a nice balance of flavors I personally like my gnocchi a little more on the crispy side but the dish was very good. The kids had pasta with butter and a small cheese pizza. The kid's meal came with a chipwich ice-cream sandwich and we topped our meal off with a canoli and cheesecake. The cheesecake was traditional New York style and the canoli was nice. It is a lively atmosphere with an open kitchen. They have call ahead seating but do not take reservations normally although they did take reservations for Christmas Eve & Christmas Day. It is a solid choice with a nice menu variety with classic and inventive choices. Service was very good on a busy night.

Went with some friends for dinner and had a great experience. Our waitress was awesome! She was funny and very engaging and helped us decide our menu since we were deciding to eat "family style." A few of our pastas, especially the "special' was great, but some of the more traditional dishes were average. It was loud and intimate just as a I would expect in a traditional Italian restaurant.

Best part of the meal was the appetizer. The Mambo nachos were incredible! I'd make a meal of those. Our pizza was ok too but came out wrong so the nachos were even better when they comped them. Try the nachos!

This was our first visit to Steamboat Springs (Oct 2013) and the Sheraton recommended Mambo. Friday night and the place was full but only had a short wait for two. Superb service by Brittney and a great variety of menu choices. Black Kale salad was superb. Grilled Italian sausage and pasta had just enough zip and was a large portion. Red bird chicken was very good, well portioned, although all dark meat. Value was very good except for pasta and italian sausage for $20 seemed a pinch high. Good choice of wines to accompany any meal choice. One shared salad, two entrees for $62 plus tip. Is that $$ or $$$?
