Owner description: The Yampa River Core Trail is a seven mile, non-motorized multi-use trail that follows the meandering Yampa River from Dougherty Road through downtown Steamboat Springs to Bear River Park. Groves of cottonwood trees, excellent fishing, scenic overlook benches, and lovely picnic spots make this trail a great place for a leisurely stroll or a commuter route through town. Additionally, there are many parks and playgrounds and more miles of trail that can be accessed off of the Core Trail.

Great trail to walk, bike, run, roller blade and skatboard on. Great views of the Yampa River and the town of Steamboat Springs.

Free, of course, and incredibly beautiful in any season. A long trail and loop which actually serves as access for bike commuters to the whole length town. Plus it has really nice open fields and picnic areas and gazebos and benches etc to accommodate anyone.

Thanks for your review of the Core Trail! The City of Steamboat Springs first started constructing the core trail in the 1980's - and we continue to add segments to the core trail, or to connecting secondary trails, each year. This coming summer we will add a short trail segment at Casey's pond - once it is complete, this new short trail segment will make linking from the Core Trail to the Ski Town playing fields and Tennis Center much easier and safer.

Just a great Natural Area and bike trail to chill out along or actually use it to commute into the town center shopping area.

This trail links the entire city. We live here and use it daily. Especially during the summer. Being along the Yampa is breathtaking at any time of the year.

Thanks for your positive review of the Core Trail - the City recreational crews work hard to make sure that it's plowed and available for winter use. We're so glad you like it!

I loved walking along the Yampa River Trail. It's a level walking trail with great views of the mountains on one side and the peaceful river on the other. It's a great place to walk in the mornings, or afternoons!
