I really enjoyed the Pioneers Museum. It is small and quaint. If you have time take about an hour and see what they have to offer.

A good introduction to what makes Steamboat special. Ranching, skiing and mining are the roots of Steamboat and a visit to the museum will help you understand and appreciate what Steamboat has to offer.

This museum has something for all who visit Steamboat, it has a great historical retrospective on skiing, but also for the history buff, non-skier or lookyloo, it has interesting exhibits that speak to Steamboat's past. I especially loved the exhibits about early life in this vibrant community including period clothing furniture and household goods. The kids loved the early ski apparel and equipment. My youngest grand daughter decided the bedroom exhibit upstairs was haunted. The volunteer was helpful and friendly, the museum is well priced and a wonderful way to spend time when not skiing, eating and shopping in this great community. I will visit it again, and encourage all to do so as well!

A small but very interesting little museum about Steamboat. There's a variety of exhibits, from the history of the area, skiing, and how Steamboat became Ski-Town USA, with a look at those who made the town what it is. Learn about the father of skiing in Colorado, a Norwegian who brought the sport to Steamboat and started their winter festival still going on to this day.
There is also a very interesting exhibit of the traditional Victorian house, with the authentic articles and furnishings of the day. It is definitely worth the entrance fee.

This is a real gem if you're into history and what things were like in the past. It's a little small, and kids may rip through it pretty fast, but it's an amazing keeper of Steamboat and Yampa Valley history. If you love history and look into the past, you'll love this place. If you have lots of antsy kids, they'll be through this place pretty quick.
