“A Great Small Town Museum”
Reviewed December 24, 2011

This is a real gem if you're into history and what things were like in the past. It's a little small, and kids may rip through it pretty fast, but it's an amazing keeper of Steamboat and Yampa Valley history. If you love history and look into the past, you'll love this place. If you have lots of antsy kids, they'll be through this place pretty quick.

“Learn About Steamboat's History”
Reviewed September 18, 2011

This small museum is a good place to spent an hour or two to learn about the founding and history of Steamboat Springs through different eras. There are exhibits on the first floor showing Steamboat in the 1960's and the development of ski equipment from the 1800's to the present. Also, there is a room dedicated to the development of the town and the ski area with lots of interesting photos and interactive displays. I also like the fact that founding families like the Crawfords and Allens are honored with displays of their history and geneology. There are recreated rooms of a Victorian era house with loads of original items and a room with a very interesting firearms collection. Touring is self-guided. There is a half price admission coupon in a brochure found in a coupon book that is widely distributed in hotels and other places in the area.
