Looking for something off the beaten path, then this is worth a stop. There are multiple pools here at varying degrees of temperature. The hottest is quite warm, but they also have a larger one that is a mix of hot and cold water and a good spot for kids to play. It is cash only and you can rent towels if you forget them, like we did. They have a changing area and when we were there a women selling shaved ice. It gets pretty crowded there but not overwhelming. They drain an clean the pools on Thursday morning so that is a good time to go.

Nights are adult only and clothing optional so be aware of that . Overall this was fun experience in the Steamboat Springs area.

Wow, we wanted to do a natural hot spring and saw Strawberry was a top rated spot. So we drove all the way up to Steamboat to go to it, and we were not disappointed! Caution, it is a few miles or a rough gravel road to reach it - but that is part of the charm of the place that is is so far out in the wilderness! The tubs are actually hot spring water that they mix with cold stream water to hit a proper temperature. The hot spring water would scald you if it were not mixed!!! Each pool is a different temp, so you can find one that is right for you! The largest pool is the coldest and very comfortable to swim in! Bring a picnic and enjoy it here...you can easily spend the good part of an afternoon relaxing! FYI...it is CASH ONLY, so leave the plastic behind!

Went here for the first time ever at night with a group of friends. First off getting there is a little bit of a drive on a dirt road. There is an entry fee ($15) Note**CASH OR CHECK ONLY NO CREDIT CARDS. As for the springs themselves they are great & very relaxing. They are different temperatures which means one of them should be to your liking. As others have stated getting around after dark can be a challenge but your phones flashlight or small penlight takes care of that. Lots of stairs and some steps to get into the pools so be careful (some people wore old tennis shoes to avoid slipping). Once the sun goes down then the suits tend to come off. So if that is going to bother you... be warned as you will "see" both male and female nudity and on occasion some sexual activity (I did) assuming you have good night vision or a moon is out. This is also a great place for a family or couple to visit during the day if you're not up for the adults only version after dark. They also have places to rent so you can actually stay onsite if you'd like.

So cool and relaxing and very natural setting. I liked the fact this was out of town and not just a normal pool area. I do wish I was able to make it earlier to have a better layout of the area known before it got darker. Neat with the different pools and some being much less hotter then others.
Being there at night was fun and slightly dangerous. I've always felt I do well in the dark and am careful. But it was a cloudy night with no moon to help and NO lights in the pool area either. I understand letting it be natural and not having light on those who choose to be nude. But there needs to be a better way to ID where steps are from one area to the next around the outside of the pool with low solar lights or lights hidden in rocks etc. Some where I did cut a toe and also stepped off an unknown step but caught myself without issue and no doubt no one had noticed. lol
Going it alone was less fun but I wanted to experience it and compare to Gleenwood Springs. Having read up on it a little I did grab a small flashlight which was handy for changing in the tee-pee, as others had also done thus the other piles of clothes etc. When it was 10:30 and time to leave everything was there and fine. Again the flashlight was VERY helpful and needed to safely find my way out.
I look forward to going again in the future and getting there early enough to take photo's of the place.
