Strawberry Park Hot Spring are quite simply the best CO has to offer. I've been to virtually every accessible, developed hot springs in CO over the last 40 years and S.P. has become (through very tasteful development and regulation over that time) the best one can find.

Great natural hot springs with multiple pools and a nice sandy bottom. The downside is that it can be hard to find. Getting down to the pools can be a muddy walk so wear appropriate footwear. For those that enjoy natural hot springs, this is a place not to miss!

I love hot springs so when we had a snowboarding trip to Steamboat Spring planned for New Years week, I knew this would be one of our stops. We didn't make it out there until after dark. There are signs that say only 4 wheel drive, snow tires, or chains required past this point, luckily our suburban was equipped, but we did see some not so lucky visitors, so heed the warning signs.
This is a **CASH ONLY business. The greeters were very nice and asked if it was our first time. They told us that it was clothing optional so to keep our flashlights/phones low and to the ground. The temperature was maybe 3 degrees at the time so we are walking in our warm clothes down to the dressing rooms. The room is a cabin with 3 make shift dressing rooms and it's freezing cold once you start undressing, also there are not lights in the dressing room so I highly recommend a flash light. After we were in our swimsuits, we had to carry our clothes down to the springs. There are not lockers and we did not have bags to put our clothes and shoes in. Four of us hurried down the icy steps in the dark trying our best to keep our phone lights aimed at the ground. We found an open chair to set our clothes on and made our way into the springs as fast as we could. Once there it was worth it. Beautiful clear night so we saw lots of stars.. There are no lights our there so we really couldn't see the surroundings. I'd like to go back during the day. Just be prepared if you go at night, it will be cold if it's the winter months and it's not safe unless your entire group can easily walk up and down icy steps.

We took a break from skiing one day while on vacation and headed to the Strawberry Park Natural Hot Springs.

Tip - you must have a 4-wheel drive SUV/car or you will not get up the hill (don't even try as you will make the locals mad as they all back-up behind you and since the road is narrow nobody will get past you!). We parked at the bottom of the hill in our rear-wheel drive SUV and our friend came back for us after dropping his family off at the pools.

There are 3 pools - One steaming hot, one warm (very nice) and one cold (not freezing though). The bathroom facility is NOT close to the pools so bring a large towel and flip flops if you want to get dressed in the bathrooms...otherwise you will need to try and get changed into and out of your clothes in a building with no doors.

I would have liked to see the tiles around the hot springs more de-iced....it was very slippery!!!

The pools are just wonderful. Its very relaxing and a great outing for a family (we went during the day).

I absolutely LOVE the Strawberry Park Hot Springs. Other Hot Springs in the area just do not compare. Though the location is a bit of a drive from Downtown Steamboat, I think it is what makes them so relaxing and enjoyable!
