Owner description: Grizzle-T Dog & Sled Works is a dog sledding tour business located in Steamboat Springs, CO. Family owned and operated by Iditarod Musher, Kris Hoffman and his wife Sara. In business since 1996, we offer both “Learn to Drive” dog sledding tours where we bring you out and teach you how to drive your own team (typically 2 people/sled with one starting as the driver and 1 being the passenger and then switching half way around the trail) or “Guide Driven” tours where we drive the sleds for you and you can just sit back and relax and enjoy the beautiful Colorado mountains at the speed of dog. Our 12.5mile backcountry trail is located on a private ranch just west of Steamboat. Our pristine (groomed) trail snakes through Colorado’s mountainous ranch country traversing over ridgelines, through canyons, open meadows, and everything in-between. Views include the Flat Tops Wilderness Area, Sleeping Giant, The Zirkles, The Steamboat Ski Area, the Valley and much more...with the occasional spotting of wildlife!

“One of best experiences of our lives!”
Reviewed February 26, 2013

Expensive - yes; Sara could be friendlier - yes, but... The 2+ hours on the sled should not be missed if you get the chance, especially if you love animals and love to see them doing what they're bred to do. The dogs LIVE for this! So relaxing & fun. Highly recommend. Like nothing you've ever done unless you're a musher already. Guides friendly & helpful yet let you do it yourselves. Dogs great! Can't say enough. would go back. BTW, Sara needs to be a little tough because everyone tries to insist on wearing their own gear. She knows what she's doing! Trust her & wear her gear if she says so. She's the musher, not you.

“Amazing Family Experience with Grizzle-T!!”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

We surprised my sister with a dog sledding excursion for her 30th birthday and Grizzle-T did NOT disappoint!! We got a big welcome from Scott, Sarah and the dogs right when we got there. Sarah took us inside and made sure that we were dressed right. They have all kinds of warm clothes, boots, mittens, etc for you to borrow if you forgot something or if you need a few extra pieces. We were allowed to meet the dogs, who are so lovable, friendly, and excited about what they do! I was in a sled with my sister. The loop we did was a little over 12 miles. She got to drive the sled for the first half and then we switched. Scott did a great job of explaining how to drive the sled so you had nothing to worry about. Our guide was Brian. He answered all of our questions and did a great job of making sure we were completely safe out on the trail. He also is a great photographer! After we got back, Sarah had hot chocolate & cider ready for us, along with HOMEMADE COOKIES AND BROWNIES!! Overall, it was an awesome experience. The folks and dogs at Grizzle-T are top-notch. They clearly love what they do and it translates into every aspect of this experience. If you are anywhere near Steamboat, give them a call. You won't regret it!! PS - Bring your camera!!!!

“Amazing dog sledding excursion!!!”
Reviewed February 15, 2013

This was a full "on hand" dog sledding excursion. You actually drive the sled not just a boring ride...Our guide, Brian, was very informative and friendly. The dogs were so energetic and lovable, it's unbelievable how strong the dogs are! The 12.5 mile trip covered lots of beautiful scenery and various mountain landscapes. Well worth the money! A "must do" when ivisiting Steamboat Colorado.!!!!

“Would do again!”
Reviewed February 15, 2013

My husband and I drove the sled in Feb. 2013. The dogs are amazing athletes that love to mush. Everyone who works for this company is really nice and go above and beyond. They pick you up from your condo and drop you back off. A lesson is given in mushing and then you are off on the trail. They also make sure you are dressed warmly and feel good behind the sled. The group stopped a few times and the guides take pictures for you. Would do it again in a heart beat!!

“A Valentine's Day treat”
Reviewed February 14, 2013

My wife and I agreed to something special for Valentine's Day and this was just the right gift. We both drove and enjoyed the views, the break from the slopes and the excitement of having 8 pure Alaskan Huskies pull us across the hills and fields near Steamboat. A great time. All the staff and owners were informative and excellent hosts. A must do in Steamboat Springs.
