Read in promotional coupon book that Sweetwater offers a "Blues and Brews" evening, so before our group of 6 decided to go I called the restaurant to see if we needed to make reservations or arrive early. I was told that if we showed up an hour before the band was scheduled to start there wouldn't be a wait. I was told wrong. We had to wait a half-hour to be seated. This was slightly annoying, but the hostess was apologetic and kept us informed on why we couldn't be seated right away and how much longer it would take. Once we were seated, the waitress promptly took our drink orders, they arrived shortly thereafter, and our food orders went in and came our almost as quickly. The food was very good. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Even after the initial missteps we would all go back.

A local recommended the restaurant and we were so grateful! The food was excellent and plentiful, the staff couldn't have been nicer and more professionally attentive and the view of the river ( and the tubers floating by!) was perfect. There were 4 of us and we all enjoyed our meals. Really confused by the bad reviews and so glad I didn't see them until I was ready to post a review as I might not have gone. Truly worthy of a visit. Didn't get back at 8:30 pm for drinks around the fire pit as a local musician played only because I was so pooped out from our day of fun :))

Thanks for the great comments. I don't understand TripAdvisor at all. It seems that, mostly, when people have good things to say, they tell us in person. When something bad happens, as it will at times, they go on-line. I suggest to people to make up their own minds too. Thanks again.

Yum! Great food, great service and a place for the kids to run and play while the adults enjoy shade and cold beverages. Go through the little gate and you can watch the tubers go by during the afternoon.

Lured into the business by the local "What to do in Steamboat Springs" propaganda magazine. Unfortunately, the two draws for us, Trout and Lamb, that were on the mag menu weren't on the menu at the business. Discovered today they were on a Winter Menu, but the server and another associate didn't even know that. We would have walked except all the real restaurants were packed. With the reservation, we had also asked for a river view - we go to see the far bank, between two tables of "walk-ins" that arrived just ahead of us.

Drinks at the bar were "so-so" nothing demanding and that was good since it took longer than normal. The meals:

Tapas: We had salmon on toast, the difference between the salmon spread and the canned tunfish salad Mother used to make was that they called it salmon. The toast was the same rounds you buy at the local market. We also tried a Thai salad, shredded cabbage with some type of a ginger dressing - maybe Paul Newman's Own??? If it was made at the business, the cook might want to try his/her skills elsewhere.

Cordon Bleu - tough chicken with a pile of shaved ham, not wrapped, not breaded and seasoned, a thick pasty cream sauce, and I guess the cook's (certainly not a chef) cute idea of leaving the wing bone attached. Like nothing I've ever had in Europe or many American restaurants - really, it was like nothing I've ever had called Cordon Bleu.

Sweet Potato Gnocchi Ratatouille: Bland, including the pool of oil/grease on the bottom of the plate. Wife said she was glad she was dieting, as the portion fit her reduced diet....

Tamari Ginger Glazed Salmon: Actually, our friend said it wasn't too bad; however, the "fragrant jasmine rice" was neither fragrant, nor to the taste test of all four of us jasmine flavored - as far as we were concerned, it was sticky white rice,

Advice to anyone expecting a fine cuisine - stay away.

Unfortunately, we were treated rudely by one of the bartenders and decided to leave after this. We were waiting for a drink at the bar and requested 2 beers. We were reprimanded as we were (unknown to us) not the next customers in line. We go out a lot, love having a good time, and are decently laid back, so this was quite infuriating! I would not recommend this place, there are many many other places to go in Steamboat (i.e., Carl's, McKnight's), so enjoy everything else SB has to offer!!

Sorry for the bad experience. We served over 3,000 people during the 4th of July holiday weekend and only had three negative comments. Sorry that you were one of those three. Try us again and let us prove to you what we can do.
