Just got back from the Zirkel wilderness area where we hiked up to the mining camp and overnited. Next day, got up and climbed Zirkel- weather looked cloudy but cleared up as we got to Red Dirt Pass. Beautiful views and the trails are relatively empty.
There are a number of stream crossings going up there- so bring your water shoes. I recommend this area for those that will be in Steamboat. I personally like the views better in the San Juans, but this is very nice.
