Reviewed March 28, 2014

We stayed at the Sheraton Steamboat over Mar 15th weekend and skied 3 days. We simply fell in love with the Sheraton and the Steamboat resort. We truly found them both to be the friendliest places on earth!!. Both the hotel and the resort have a special vibe that is different than the many places we have skied. We were so happy with the staff, our accommodations, and the families that stayed there. We called the hotel from our shuttle from the airport to see if our room was ready and it was. The front desk was expecting us when we got there, and our check in took minutes and we went to our room. Due to the early check in, we quickly changed in our room and skied that first afternoon. Our room was spotless and exactly as described. Daily housekeeping was so nice, extremely efficient and only too happy to supply us with a few requests. Our bed was plush and comfy and our linens were soft and fresh. The front desk, concierge, and shuttle operator, were so friendly and willing to help in anyway. The location of the hotel is perfect and so convenient for getting to the lifts. The Steamboat Ski & Sport Rental shop in the hotel had our equipment ready and they really cared that we were fitted correctly. We used the Hotel ski check every day and it could not have been more convenient. We were also happy with the evening shuttle to downtown and its pickup. Both worked so smoothly and everyone we met could not have been nicer!! We will definitely be going back to the Sheraton Steamboat.

We recently stayed at the Sheraton Steamboat for the second time, and found it to be great. They are in the process of making some changes and updates, and they have definitely been for the better. Brandon checked us in. He was very gracious to upgrade us to a nice, quiet room on the 8th floor, which was greatly appreciated. They offer a ski check as part of the resort fee, which we opted to do and the bellman helped us take them off our ski rack and loaded them up for us and everything, which was very nice. Great customer service.

The property overall is very nice and well maintained. The rooms are spacious enough as are the bathrooms. The only thing we noticed was the bed looked a bit tired. The pillows had definitely been well used and the sheets had some small tears as well. Our bed also didn't have a fitted sheet on it, which seemed a little strange. Not a huge deal. The hotel is doing some construction currently but we didn't find it affected our stay at all. I could see if you were maybe on a lower floor it might, but we had no issues. As has been mentioned, the resort literally sits right at the base of the mountain. After getting our skis out of storage, we only had to walk about 40 feet to the lift.

Although we didn't eat in the full restaurant they have on property, we did eat breakfast at the new cafe 2 of the mornings. A little overpriced for what you get, but it's a hotel so that's to be expected. Service was great-very friendly ladies.

We also chose to do the Make a Green Choice program where housekeeping doesn't clean the room. Even though we didn't get housekeeping service, they still left 2 bottles of water and fresh coffee outside our room each morning, which was great.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay very much and look forward to returning!

I visited for 4 nights in march for a guys ski trip. I'm an spg platinum and have stayed at tons of Starwood properties. Victor Hernandos, front desk manager, was a big help in arranging high floor connecting rooms. Rooms are updated and in good condition. Had some issues with my TV but Internet worked well for me. Pool is under construction and we faced pool on 7th floor but I didn't hear or notice the construction. Two hot tubs were nice. Spg platinum buffet breakfast was good. Front desk and shuttle staff were very helpful. Location is unbelievable as only steps to lift or gondola. Ski storage downstairs is incredibly convenient. Rented skis from black tie rentals who delivers right to hotel room. Only let down is the gym needs way more equipment as it only has free weights and cardio. I will be back

I've had a hard time rating this property considering the rating largely depends on what you expect. If you just looking for a place to sleep next to the mountain, it would get 5 stars, but if you expect a Sheraton resort it is just not it.
There are a couple things that were great about the hotel - the location- right next to the slopes and the service, everyone was courteous and friendly. The lobby was also nicely decorated and the hotel had several restaurants/stores on the property.
Everything else seemed to be lacking. First, there is a major pool construction going on in the hotel that's hard to miss, which translates into a lot of noise, dust, and less than scenic view, and lack of pool of course (though 2 hot tubs are still open). Initially, we were given a room on the second floor and simply could not open the balcony door without an awfully loud noise and dust from construction right below us; we were then moved to the 5th floor, which helped with the dust not so much with the noise and the view. We were planned to stay in the hotel for several days and left after one night just because of that.
Second, the rooms themselves are nothing special. We stayed in Sheraton resort in Avon before and expected a similar apartment style 1 bedroom with a kitchen etc, here it was a regular hotel room with a fridge. The mirror was dirty with fingerprints and the pillowcases had black stains on them.
Third, there is an $20 resort charge. To my knowledge, this is the only hotel that has a resort charge in Steamboat. What's included is free water, shuttle to downtown, and underground parking garage, which was convenient but very dark and poorly maintained with the roof leaking in several places. I am not sure these amenities justify the $20 charge especially with the pool being under construction.
If you are in town I think there are much cheaper and better lodging options than Sheraton "resort," especially if you have a car, there are a couple of free parking lots for skiers within walking distance of the mountain.

Room Tip: Away from the construction

Dear merryl8,
Thank you for sharing your feedback. I apologize that you felt that the resort experience was lacking. We have encountered many unforseen challenges with the on-going construction project and are sorry to hear that it impacted your experience. We hope that you will consider joining us again when the project is complete to enjoy our newly renovated pool area, featuring cabanas and a fire pit. In terms of teh resort charge, this is not a mandatory fee and is something was added as a value for our guests. If the amenties that are included are not of value, this option may be declined at time of arrival. We hope that you otherwise enjoyed Steamboat and have a great year.

This hotel has a great location at the bottom of the slope and next to the Gondola. They have in-house restaurants and cafes (which we didn't see the cafe until our last day...it was hidden off to the left of the elevators) that have good food. There is plenty of outdoor seating with heaters around and even a little 'wall' with some gas logs that you can sit and watch the skiers.
The room was pretty good except there was no microwave in the regular king bed room. Even a Hampton Inn has that. The only other thing that I didn't like was that the sink area was very small and not enclosed with a door. We were there for business and my husband had to get up early. It mad it hard to be quiet since the whole bathroom area was not enclosed.
You can rent and store skis right in the basement of the hotel. Even thought this was a real busy week and the equipment was limited, they were able to get me decent boots and skis. You can check your skis in every night but you can't leave your boots. There are lockers there also, so all in all that was a plus. The employees were fantastic!

Poor customer service, especially when it comes to treating their "preferred guests". We had one bellman greet a van load of 20 people and was obviously unable to assist anyone but the first person off. The lack of attention continued throughout. Our room was not ready and when it finally was it was not the room promised at the time of reservation. When we brought the concern to their attention she said she could not move us it was the only one the had available and they could offer two free drinks. We are staying a full week and two free drinks is supposed to make up for a room downgrade!!! Bellman took an hour with bags. One screw up after another and we just checked in.
