If I may, coming from the person who slept downstairs against the wall facing the hill, it was absolutely not “cool” on the lower level. Understandably not the company’s fault though. However, no fans were brought to the house. There were a few already in the house which we used. After the initial arrival of the bear all passed down suggestions were taken from the game warden and Matt. As far as never having bear problems in the past 10 years, I seem to remember being told that the same bear and his mother destroyed the hot tub cover last year, so it seems the truth is being stretched a bit to cover up a bad review. All rooms were also being used, hence windows being open, just to clarify that inaccurate statement as well. I personally chased the bear away on several occasions, even hitting it with a few rocks, so we did our part in preventing him from coming back. Still a great place to stay and beautiful view. But maybe check your facts better before replying to a customers review.
Spectacular home. Well kept and maintained. Everything is first class without being over done. Went in January. Have booked another stay in July.
Looking forward to it!
Beautiful home but home was very hot since they are going thru a heat wave. No A/C and not ceiling fans. One day was 89 inside and that was with windows open. Bear decided to visit everyday, cool at first but we scared it off each day. We left home Friday morning with windows partially open, kids came back from hiking & scare bear from kitchen. A little freaked but kept all windows closed that were at ground level. Next morning found the bear had chewed up the hot tub cover during the night. Then around 10am I was texting Matt to let him know and was standing by the stove and turned around to see the bear trying to get thru the window 2 feet from me. He banged every window he could reach at back of house, would not leave even with us banging pans, yelling, etc. Then the bear got on top of hot tub and started ripping cover. Matt came by and shot him with a rubber pellet. He ran off but family was so shaken at this point that everyone decided to leave and head back home. I contacted rental company to let them know what we had been through and asked if they could refund one of the two nights we had left in home. I thought it was a reasonable compromise since we would have to spend 2 nights in a hotel and our daughter & husband would have to get a room to wait for their flight. They called me back and said that Grey Schumacher said no but I could call him. When I called him and told him everyone was too scared to stay and have left except for us he told me I signed the contract that said if we were late or left early it was our choice and would not be refunded. Also bears never come back after shot with a rubber ball. He was rude and very insensitive to our feelings. Also, keep all windows closed that were at ground level and the next couple of days were going to be cooler. Most windows are at ground level and if windows at back of house were not open there was no air flow. I think a bear breaking into house should have been a factor in his decision but he thought we were just benign stupid about the whole thing. I would not recommend this company to rent from even though everyone besides Grey were great but if he has the final word on everything then stay away.
