My husband and I just stayed here from April 8 to 10. We usually stay at Hiltons and the like, so it was our first experience with a "budget" hotel. The first room we were assigned was near the road and very noisy, as well as extremely smokey. We immediately asked for another room and were given a choice of two others. We chose a king bed room on the ground floor.

The positives - (1) The owner was super friendly and helpful. She recommended the Italian restaurant next door, which was fabulous - 5 stars! (2) The location is great as you can walk to everything - no car needed. There is a shuttle stop to the resort across the street. (3) The room was clean, which is probably the most important thing to us. Also, the room was nicely equipped with a fridge, microwave, and tv. The bathrooms were clean and remodeled, with a heat lamp and fan. Shower was super - great water pressure and hot!

The negatives - (1) The bathroom toilet was clogged upon arrival. We figured out that you had to flush by holding the handle down the whole time. On our second day, the toilet completely clogged again and we had to borrow a plunger from the office. By the end of our trip, we had to take the lid off and fiddle with the trap to get the toilet to flush. (2) The king-size bed was quite likely the most uncomfortable rundown bed I've ever slept in - there was a large crater in the middle where you could feel the springs. My husband and I both had to sleep on opposite edges of the bed to avoid being sucked in. We could not figure out how a bed could even get this way! Either way, it does not make for a good night's sleep. (3) As one might expect in a budget hotel, there was some loud late night activity on Friday night. I was woken up by drunks yelling in the parking lot at 2:20 am and 4:45 am. No problems Saturday night.

Although we'd stay here again in large part due to the budget pricing and the accommodating staff, we will probably try the Hampton Inn the next time. If they updated the beds, I'd give this hotel a better review by far!!

I love the Nordic Lodge! I've stayed there many times and love the family feel and very comfortable accommodations! It's owned by a family who's done wonders to the property over the last couple of years. Love their remodelled rooms - especially the suites - and the brand new addition of a huge hot tub. Plus - it's the only place downtown Steamboat with a pool and a backyard. They are the best deal in town as well - I've checked around a few times. Whatever you do, if you go to Steamboat - make sure to stay downtown, it's close to restaurants, night life, rodeo grounds, etc. and you really get to feel this great Western town.

We arrived in Colorado on March 24, 2004. We flew into the Yampa Regional Airport and took the Alpine Taxi into Steamboat--no need for a car. We arrived at the Nordic Lodge and thought the outside looked a little shabby, but we were pleasantly surpised when we got into the room--it had been completely remodeled. There was a queen bed, microwave, and refrigerator and the bathroom had been all redone. There was a very nice indoor hot tub which felt great after a day of "spring skiing." The staff was very friendly and answered all our questions about restaurants and shops. We were in an excellent location on 11th and Lincoln. We were only blocks away from 20 excellent restaurants.
The free ski bus stopped directly across the street to take us to the mountain and dropped us off right in front of the motel at the end of the day. The city bus will take you anywhere you want to go for free--no need for a rental car. We would defintely stay at the Nordic Lodge again!

We have stayed here for three years when skiing at Steamboat. The owners are very hospitable. The rooms are neat and clean. You can walk to most downtown restaurants. The free ski bus stops in front of the motel for rides to the resort and return trips. Has outdoor hot tub to soak away the strains of skiing.

After really searching for an affordable place to stay in Steamboat Springs, I found the Nordic Lodge Motel. Compared to the rest of the lodging in town, the price seemed really low, so I didn't have high expectations. The Nordic is lovely! Our room was spacious, warm, and exceptionally clean. We were surprised to find out our room came comlete with a refigerator, microwave, and coffee maker. Not only was the room comfortable, the staff could not have been friendlier or more accomodating. The motel is located in the heart of downtown, and the free bus stops right out front. Very convenient! My only complaint was that we had to sit on the bed to watch TV, and our room's alarm clock didn't work. Otherwise, we were very happy. If you don't need luxury accomodations, don't feel you have to settle for spartan lodging. The Nordic Lodge Motel is clean, cozy, and a bargain.
