“Comfortable, clean, and friendly B&B!”
Reviewed October 28, 2012

We had a wonderful time with Bob and Jo at the Alpine Rose. Our room was comfortable and well appointed. Breakfasts were delicious and filling. Our hosts had great suggestions for dinning and outdoor activities. We would definitely recommend this cozy B&B to our closest friends and family.

Room Tip: Zoe's Room

Jo gave us a warm welcome on our arrival and, before even showing us our room, told us about the inn, about the town, etc. and immediately made us feel like being guests in her home. Our king bed room, though not spacious, was quite adequate for our needs and the closet provided ample room for setting up our luggage. The kitchen and living room was made available to us for getting tea or watching TV (no phone or TV in bed room) which we did not get to do much of because of our charming and chatty hosts (we were the only guests the night we stayed there). Jo also gave us good recommendations for restaurants. Best was the cooked-to-order morning breakfast - scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit, juice, coffee. We wished we could have stayed longer and hope to be back.

Room Tip: If you are used to sleeping in a king bed, be sure to ask for the one room with that size bed.

We stayed at Alpine Rose B&B for 3 nights in March 2012. Our room (Zoe's Rose Garden) on the top floor was very spacious and comfortable with dual aspect windows and great views. Bob and Jo were fabulous hosts - had loads of knowledge about the area. They let us use their phone to book a snow mobile tour. Bob very kindly lent us his snow shoes for the afternoon. The breakfasts were excellent. So much to do in Steamboat that we didn't get time to sit in the hot tub - maybe next time. Very conveniently located as just a short walk into the town centre with plenty of restaurants.

Room Tip: Zoe's Rose Garden room on the top floor - has great views and very spacious.

Alpine Rose is in a good location but the accomadations need to be updated. Our room was next to the owners and was private but old. It felt like my great grandmother's old stuff. The owners are nice but hung around with the gust too much. Food was average... Nothing special like you would expect in a B and B. Not the romantic get away we expected.

We went to the Alpine Rose B&B for a weekend getaway and it was the perfect choice of place to stay! Jo and Bob, the owners, are very friendly and welcoming. They want you to feel at home and will do whatever to make that happen. We spent time laying on the hamock and pitching horeshoes in the backyard as well as exlporing Steamboat. The breakfasts were amazing and very accomodating. I fell ill while we were there and missed breakfast but they happily fixed me whatever I wanted later and let us check out late. I would go back!

We turned up on spec and were greeted warmly, given advice on the best places to eat. We arrived to find the "Ride to the Rockies" cycle event was on in town so 2000 participants and there extended back up.

The owners gave us great advice on how to avoid these bikes on our next day trip after a very full breakfast of home made bread, fruit and sausage.

Well, the owners are very pleasant people, but getting them to return calls or emails is a real pain in the neck. The breakfasts are okay, they are basically one-dish meals and then a side thrown in. Not a lot of thought or care, but tastes good. Also I found it really rigid that she expects people to eat all at the same time--like a boarding house!! I am not sue why she posts the breaktime as being in a range of time when she won't feed you unless everyone is at the table (ugh). I get the overall impression that they are both bored of the business because they do not appear to make much effort in anything.

Aside from interactions with the hosts, the accommodations are very nice! Good, plush towels, nice bed, very nice robes and blankets, etc. Decorated nicely and quite comfortable. The walls are thin--expect to be woken up by someone's shower in the AM. Not for sleeping in or romance ;)

I think it boils down to what you want overall and not the fault of the owners. I personally do NOT like being forced to eat with strangers at a fixed time, and I like an innkeeper to ANSWER emails and ph calls. However, it is nice and clean and comfortable and you could do MUCH worse :)
