Arbor House Inn Bed & Breakfast on the River
Ranked #1 of 2 South Fork B&B and Inns
Certificate of Excellence

We often detour just to stay at this wonderful B and B in South Fork, Colorado. The owners are very friendly and are gracious hostesses. It is beautifully decorated and the backyard is so peaceful and pretty with the trout stream so close, the hummingbirds, the mountain, and all the flowers. We've seen fishermen catching trout right out back. The breakfast is to die for, so creative. They even shared a recipe with me the last time we were there. We've sent several friends here over the years and they have been equally impressed. The rooms are in themes and are beautifully appointed. Our favorite is the "Hunters Hideaway". Right across the street is a nice Swiss restaurant and up the mountains is a championship golf course rated one of the top ten in Colorado. There isn't much shopping there but it's fun to go to Pagosa Springs or Creed for the day while the guys fish or play golf.

We returned to AHI along with two other couples -- very, very discriminating friends, I must say. And they loved it! We plan to return next summer with maybe more friends, attend the plays in Creede and make time for lounging on the deck and down by the water.

Room Tip: Book in advance if you want the king size bed.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Arbor House and intend to return! The setting is beautiful right on the South Fork of the Rio Grande River and my husband was thrilled to catch 12 trout right off the property. Laurie and Keith are wonderful hosts, the breakfast was creative and delicious and the decor and landscaping impeccable. We would highly recommend this B&B for a tranquil and restorative place to stay. (The restaurant across the highway is excellent too!) Jeanne and Owen, Lakewood, CO

Keith and Laurie are gracious hosts. The room was beautiful, decorated to the highest standards with total attention to detail. The garden is lovely and the location is tranquil and lovely. Breakfasts were interesting and delicious. A definite retreat. The town of South Fork was a little dry with not much of interest, but the b&b is fabulous.

Room Tip: Ground floor, separate entrance

We found the Arborhouse on-line and the pictures don't do it justice to the fine quality of hospitality that Laurie and Keith offer you while you are there. It's very clean, very well decorated, and so warm and hospitable. The breakfast(s) were delicious and so well presented. The bed was so comfortable and the rooms were so inviting. I will be recommending this to my friends who come to this area. We hope to come back someday. It was a beautiful experience while we were in the area for a wedding. LOVED IT!!
Thank you Laurie and Keith. Cindy and Tom Munnell

My husband & I stayed at the Arbor House Inn for the first half of our ski vacation to Wolf Creek. We ski all day so we like some creature comforts in the evening.
I can't say enough good things about this B&B.....the rooms were beautifully decorated, but at the same time felt cozy and welcoming. Our bathroom was very spacious, and had a fridge & tea / coffee making area, incl a microwave. Useful things were provided (wine glasses, bottle opener etc). I loved the shower dispenser with Shampoo, Condiitioner & soap - much more "green" than individual mini bottles.
Bath robes were provided for going to & from the hot tub....and the tub itself nice & hot, and in a beautiful spot by the creek, out on the deck. No silly hot-tub rules either that you often see in other B&Bs!
Every afternoon when we returned from skiing there was a fresh baked treat (cake, cookies) and hot drinks available.....really nice!
Keith (the host) was also very quick to light the fire whenever he heard us in the living room - we spent several evenings just chatting by the fire with either Keith & his wife Laurie or the other guests.
Last but certainly not least - the breakfasts! Laurie is a fantastic cook - and creates a gourmet, delicious, unique breakfast every day. We were asked if we had any preferences, and if we had had any I feel sure they would have been catered to. As it was, we are not fussy eaters and so we were served a wide range of pretty delicious meals, always including all the "food groups" - eggs, sausage, some kind of carb, and fruit & yoghurt.
I can't find any fault at all with this lovely Inn.
