“Ski in, walk out, depending on the condo location”
Reviewed February 25, 2009

I stayed in condo 32E. Condo was well kept with up to date appliances. I felt it was a great value because it was advertised as a two bedroom, however it turned out being a two bedroom with a loft. I would really recommend staying in building 31 or 32 if you are looking at these, because this building is closest to the ski lift. These units have been refurnished and have been generally well kept.

This unit is truly a ski in, and a short walk over the bridge to ski out. The nearest lift is the assay hill lift which is about 50 yards from units 31 and 32. The reviews I read prior to this trip said that this was not a ski in; however, my experience was that unit 32 was a ski in. There is a shuttle that will take you up to the village if you want to simply go to town. The shuttle runs every 10 minutes and will take you directly into the village.

We had an opportunity to use the fully stocked kitchen and it was nice to have the local grocery store within 50 yards of the unit as well. Overall, a great value for the price. I would really recommend this unit to someone making a trip up to snowmass or aspen.

Our family of four stayed in a two-bedroom at Woodbridge the last week of March. We paid $225/night, which I thought was a great deal. We saw comparable or higher rates for hotel rooms in the village and for condo units significantly farther from the mountain, so we were a little nervous that we'd be disappointed. We shouldn't have worried.

For most folks, the unit is not ski-in/out. We took the shuttle to Snowmass each morning and back each afternoon, although our kids (13 & 15) would ski across the bridge and walk to the unit at the end of the day. Woodbridge is the second stop on the shuttle route, so we weren't bothered by it at all.

The unit was bright, airy, and reasonably clean -- as long as you didn't look under the sofa. The kitchen was small, but well stocked. The four of us were very comfortable. Our kids used the pool, although we didn't. I don't think there is an exercise room.

There are a couple areas where the Woodbridge can improve. There is no office on-site; it's in the Village Center a few hundred yards away and is only open 9-5pm. If you have an after-hours question, you're in trouble. We arrived around noon and were lucky our unit was ready for us -- I don't know what we'd have done with our bags had we needed to store them somewhere until the standard 4pm check-in time. We were similarly lucky on our return -- there was no one coming in the day we left, so we weren't chased out at the 9:00 check out time. Internet service was spotty ... the wireless signal was weak in our unit.

One other note. We booked through staysnowmass.com and had no issues. But we learned from our taxi driver that travelers using resortquest.com had a shuttle from the airport included with their package, a savings of about $50.

Overall, I'd definitely return. The Woodbridge is not a luxury unit, but it was clean, spacious, and has a good location.

  • Liked — Great value for the location

Spent 6 nights at the Woodbridge condos at Snowmass with my wife and 2 boys (11 and 7 years old). This is our 4'th year of doing a family ski vacation (previously 2 years at Steamboat and last year at Winter Park).

We stayed in unit 30E which is relatively close to the bridge to the Assay lift, but honestly, a difficult walk in ski boots/clothes and carrying skis especially with the kids or after a long day of skiing. I would NOT call these accommodations ski-in or ski-out! We decided to use the village shuttle which stopped immediately outside our condo every 20 minutes. It is about a 5 minute ride to the lifts or ski school ("Treehouse"}. The staff at Snowmass was very helpful especially the first day when we were scrambling to obtain our lift tickets and ski school tickets with our vouchers supplied by our travel agency (ski.com). We chose to utilize the overnight ski/pole storage option that is at the top of the little gondola from the ski school (4$ per person per night). The kids can store their skis for free at the ski school).

The condo was adequate. In need of repair (broken drawers in the kids bedroom chest of drawers), broken curtain rods in the family room - my wife found this out the hard way when attempting to open the curtain upon our arrival and the rod fell and whacked her on the head! The kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils etc... The unit was pretty clean (dirty ceiling fan blades, an empty drink bottle was under one of the beds in the loft). Our unit was NOT convenient to the pool/hot tub - we drove our rental car there but only once since it was somewhat of a hassle. Some units were within walking distance. The unit was very quiet. The beds were comfortable - the king bed in the MBR was very comfy. Bathrooms were small but adequate. The every other day maid service was nice.

Overall, we had a great family ski vacation. The accommodations were plain but adequate for our family since we spent all day on the mountain and went out for dinner several evenings. NOT ski-in/out but the shuttle was very convenient - we had a rental car but one was not an absolute necessity due to the shuttle service.

  • Liked — close to village shuttle stop
  • Disliked — not ski-in/out, distance from pool/hot tub, broken furniture.

We have just returned from a week at Woodbridge condos at Snowmass and had a terrific time. Our condo 16C is one of the best and also it has a lot of space for a large family. It is decorated so you feel at home. Although it has two bedrooms and a living room with a sofa bed we found out that it also had a den with 3 beds!!. For our family of 6 it was very spacious and also we didn´t have to use the sofa bed and one of the beds in the den. Our children loved their room, it was like a tree house or a club.
We had a very pretty kitchen and a very cozy living room with a working chimney. All the condo was equiped with everything you can need including hair drayer, appliances in the kitchen and a bathroom with lots of clean towels, shampoo, hand lotion, conditioner, kleenex and everything tidy and neat. Also we had cleaning service for 3 days per week.
There is a parking lot few steps from the condo and also a heated swimming pool and jacuzzi just outside 16C. We didn´t use the laundry center but we saw it just a few steps away too.
The view from 16C was great and everything in that condo make us feel at home.

The only detail that we had was that it turned out to be very far away from ski school and also from lifts.
Every morning we took the bus to the village. The ski school is in the village also called the mall which is a street full of stores, snacks and restaurants and it is were everyone gets together and also a way to the lifts.
With small kids we choose to pay 75 dlls for a locker per week. Lockers are just outside the lift ticket center, at the village, and we keep all the skis, boots and poles there. Our children couldn´t carry them from the condo and back so we did it this way and wasn´t so bad at all.
There are condos at Woodbridge, 28, 29 and 30 that are walking distance to one lift (no ski school, main lifts or village) but they weren´t as pretty or spacious as ours. We saw those condos because we went with a group of family and we visit them. Just one family of the group told us that they were walking to and from the lift but they didn´t have small children.
We recommend the woodbridge, it´s an excellent option if you plan to take the bus.
