Wildwood Snowmass
Ranked #12 of 13 Hotels in Snowmass Village
Reviewed March 3, 2013

Let me preface this review with the following: I am a avid traveler normally staying at W Hotels, Mondrian, Gansevoort, and other 4/5 star properties. So of course I enjoy luxury and 4-5 star standards, especially when in the Caribbean. However, while in Snowmass Colorado I was looking for more of a rustic true mountain destination and the Wildwood Snowmass encompasses that. This hotel is not a luxury 4-star property, however, if you want a cozy lodge like atmosphere then you will enjoy your stay here. The rooms are small and the bathroom basis but it truly feels like you are in the mountains on a ski vacation. Think camping or fishing trip. The staff is super friendly and the food at the bar is good. Despite what other reviewers have said this hotel isnt that bad. Again if you are looking for luxury you should stay in Aspen ( 25 mins away) at a 4 or 5 star property. However, if you are looking for rustic cozy accommodations in Snowmass close to everything ( the mall and a few restaurants/bars) then this is your best option outside of staying at a condo. Location is within walking distance to pretty much everything. In closing 4/5 star accommodations look elsewhere. Colorado rustic mountain hotel experience stay here! I hope this review was helpful!

Thank you for taking time to post a review of your recent stay at the Wildwood Snowmass! Glad you enjoyed your stay and that you appreciated the Wildwood for what it is....a true throwback ski experience centered around fun, location and great skiing. Oh, and great beer in our new Belgium themed lobby beer hall! Hope to see you again!

An interesting place for sure. It was perfect for my solo vacation trip to ski Snowmass. The room was funky, in a retro kind of way, everything was clean and comfy. At first I didn't think I was going to like it, but overall it was good. Its different, that is for sure.
I liked the food and waitstaff in the restaurant, it worked out well to eat there.

Room Tip: be open minded if you want to stay here, it was a good deal, but not for everyone.

I would give them a zero if I could. The hot water was broken in our room and they would never send a maintance person. The heater would not turn off in both rooms making it unbearably hot, They were 3 hours late checking us in because they didn't have a room available. Restaurant service was horrible and slow, also random charges appeared on everyone in my parties credit cards that we used in the bar. When contacted the hotel said they would take of this, refund part of my stay and be in contact with me, almost 1 month later and i have called multiple times and they never return my calls since the inital call

Room Tip: Don't stay here, find a different hotel.

The rooms are small and dated. The walls are so thin, you can literally hear people two rooms down. You can easily participate in the conversation in adjoining rooms. Plan on passing out if you want sleep. Every person that walks by outside on balcony to get to thier room sounds like a train.

The Wildwood Snowmass is certainly not typical of any of any of Starwood Hotel's branded properties. It is a throwback ski lodge that was built in the early 1960's that has recently received a cosmetic renovation with emphasis on style and skier convenience. We are working to set a very well understood expecation of the building and the limited services associated with this property. The Wildwood does offer it's own great amenities such as the Bar at Wildwood, a beer hall partnered with New Belgium Brewery, a great outdoor pool and hot tub area and a throwback arcade above the lobby. Wildwood guests also have access to the Westin, next door, and the amenites, ski valet,. retail outlets and restaurants associaated with the Westin. So, if you are looking for a great location at a great rate, then Wildwood is for you! If you require a more full service experience, come see us at the Westin. Either way, you have access to great amenities and the best ski mountain in Colorado, Snowmass!

By my understanding this is a motel, with room doors that open the outside rather than an inner hallway. They tried to "freshen up" the motel with a remodel that focused on the lobby and bar. The rooms had a fresh cost of paint. But in reality, this is akin to putting lipstick on a pig. The motel is just too dated to be enjoyable. Every noise outside or footstep from a room above is heard. I can see daylight between the door and door frames on both the entry and balcony doors. Yet to save energy, they took out the infrared heating bulb in the bathroom and replaced it with a fluorescent bulb that puts out no heat. As a disclosure, I am not a skier. I am attending a conference. I had intended to use the fitness area daily instead of skiing. Unfortunately the Wildwood fitness area is an afterthought with a few machines. I regret staying at the Wildwood. It is just too dated. Don't stay here unless finances are your only concern.

We are staying in the Wildwood and it is great choice for the money.

The rooms are rather small, but clean, have necessary amenities and enough storage space - we do use it all though even the trunks under the bed to store skiing clothes overnight.

We asked for an extra rollaway bed in our king bed room which was delivered and set in ten minutes with all the linens and pillows.

The great perk is free ski and boot valet service in the westin building by the slopes.

The outdoor swimming pool and hot tubs are clean and hot. Towels are provided.

All in all I would recommend this place to my skiing friends on a budget and will stay here again.

Had a wonderful stay, very close to the mall, lift and shuttle. Lots of storage in the room, great staff. Newly renovated, had a few maintenance issues but they took care of that right away. Did you know Tripadvisor requires me to write 200 characters minimum? Yet they don't have a counter for you! THAT is annoying. But Wildwood was great!
