“Couldn't have asked for more - great ski valet, great breakfast crew”

We're now at the end of our two week vacation at the Westin Snowmass. We stayed a year ago and had a great time (so booked again for another two weeks this year) - this year exceeded our high expectations. We had a particularly outstanding experience with the ski valet team and the breakfast team at Snowmass Kitchen (see separate review for more details re breakfast buffet).

The first thing to note is that if you're at Snowmass to ski, then I can't think of any other hotel with a better location on the mountain. The Westin Snowmass is literally ski in, ski out. The experience is made even better by the guys at the ski valet (Jesse, Michael, Darren... there are many more and I'm sorry I can't remember everyone's names!) who were really courteous and friendly and made getting out on the snow really easy and stress-free. They would take our apres ski shoes, and exchange them for our ski boots and have our skis and poles ready to go outside (and then the reverse when we came back in after a day of skiing). Even at "peak hour" times when the ski valet area became really packed with guests I was amazed at how efficiently and courteously the ski valet team dealt with everyone.

As for the breakfast team - we ate at Snowmass Kitchen basically every morning before hitting the slopes, and we had a great experience. Everyone was really friendly and courteous, nothing was ever too much trouble, and the buffet selection was excellent (I particularly enjoyed the extensive fresh fruit selection).

Everyone at the Westin Snowmass did a great job to make this one of our most wonderfully memorable holidays. Thanks very much - we hope to come back again next year to enjoy your great hospitality!

This is our 3rd trip to the Westin Snowmass. The location is impossible to beat and the renovation to the old Silvertree is up to Westin standards for sure.

Having said that, the food and beverage quality (service and food) have to get fixed. One expects to pay a premium for the convenience of on property food, but one should also expect competent service and at least average food quality. The Westin falls VERY short in both. Waiting 15 minutes to be seated at an open table, then another 15 to simply get a cup of coffee and place an order is inexcusable, for example.

Hello Brian, thank you for your continued support and for visiting us three years in a row. We work diligently to renew and refresh our menus each and every year. I am sorry that you did not find menu items to your liking this time around. It also sounds like we were not able to meet your expectations for service this year. Our breakfast period is the busiest time of the day for us, we try our best to eliminate guests having to wait for a table, but we are limited in total seats our Snowmass Kitchen restuarant has to offer. I hope that you will return next year for a relaxing vacation and sample what Executive Chef Ronnie Sanchez has created.

Everything was great! The service, the food, the skiing all exceeded expectations. We have 3 young children, so convenience is a priority, especially on ski trips. This place couldn't have made it easier. We shipped our skis and gear there by UPS, and the bellman had them waiting for us when we arrived, and at the end, they packed them up and shipped them back home for us. The location is so convenient. The hotel is right in the Snowmass Village Mall, and is truly ski on ski off. The ski valets were very helpful getting the 5 of us all geared up every day. My 4 year old loved the ski school and looked forward to going every day. In other places, she would cry when we dropped her off, but not here. The free shuttle service to Aspen and the airport were very easy to use as well. We loved our stay, and would choose this hotel again next time we are in the area.

The only negative about the trip, and this has nothing to do with the hotel, is that the flights into and out of Aspen Airport often get cancelled because of weather and rebooking is not so easy. Especially when traveling with 5 people.

The Aspen Skiing Company is known for their fantastic kids ski school program, so it's not surprising to hear that even your 4 year old was excited to be dropped off every day. I went for a conference and was traveling with my two young daughters 6 and 5 years old. The best part was that they offered a Kid's Club and my kids were able to participate in fun indoor activities after a long day of skiing. At the same time my husband and myself had some down time to enjoy together. Rose was wonderful with the children, to the point that they wanted every day to spend the late afternoon playing with her. Thanks Rose! Overall had a wonderful experience!

Snowmass is the perfect place for a business conference because you can bring the whole family and turn it into a fun vacation for everyone. Our Rose is certainly great for business - all the kids want to come back every day after spending time at our Kids Club.

First of all it is a ski-in / ski-out resort with a 3 minute walk to the bus station - free rides to Aspen - which we used every night! We stayed there for eight full nights and loved our room with balcony. Since it was snowing a lot we spend a lot of time in our room reading - nice seating area in front of the window - or in the hotel lobby! Great restaurant, excellent service, nice interior design, renovated rooms. Whitney at the bar did an excellent job and so did Jon, our breakfast waiter.
Best ski valet service we ever had: On the ground floor, your skis and boots are stored and they will take them out/in for you. One day I was so exhausted after skiing one of the employees offered to help me to get out of my boots and it was effortless on my side – Thanks for the fantastic service!
One little annoying thing though: The bathroom doesn't have enough shelving space for storing your own toiletries - like so many other hotels. One more shelf would make a big difference!

We stayed there for eight full nights and everything was perfect! We hadn't been there before Westin took over. We always liked the old Silvertree Hotel. But what a difference now: Great restaurant, excellent service, nicer interior design, renovated rooms. Whitney at the bar did an excellent job. So did Jon, our breakfast waiter.
The ski valet moved from the third floor to the ground floor. The logistic and service how they handle your skis and boots is to be highlighted. If you ask for it, they even help you to put off your boots.
All that for a room rate which is roughly half off that you would pay at the “Viceroy”.
And did I mention: It's a ski-in / ski-out resort with a 3 minute walk to the bus station?
One little annoying thing though: The bathroom does not have enough shelving. My wife had difficulties to store all her small bottles and cosmetics. Something that could be fixed easily by the owner without ripping their budget apart.

Room Tip: If you can spend the money upgrade to a balcony room.

The Westin was great, ski-in ski out. We drove in from Denver and Molly the concierge knew we were arriving late and had an awesome care package with beers and food waiting for us in our room! Couldn't have been more thrilled to see those cold ones after a long drive. Thanks again Molly, you really made us feel welcome on our first trip to Aspen/Snowmass! We'll be coming back again next year now!
