“Beautiful property, great location”
Reviewed July 5, 2013

We decided to stay at The Westin Snowmass because of the summer specials it was running and also because it offered a great swimming pool and access to Snowmass Village and it's many food and shopping options. We also wanted a resort convenient to Maroon Bells and Aspen.

The service at The Westin was great with check-in and concierge. The reason I rated this property "very good" versus "excellent" is that the pool area was often left messy, with food trays and drinks sitting around, as there was not regular wait staff nearby. It wasn't a huge problem as I just cleared food trays over to another table and called on the white phone they have by the pool to inform the staff that the pool area needed to be cleaned up. Their service was quick when called upon.
As a tip, we ordered our drinks inside at the bar and brought them out to the pool because the hotel service fee for pool side drinks was INSANE.

As for the rooms, they are a bit small, we booked a 2 queen bedded room. There is adequate storage for clothing and even a fridge. I will mention that the bathroom counter is small, so not enough room for more than one individuals toiletries.

My husband and I both agreed that had we been to The Westin Snowmass for a week long ski trip, this room would have felt quite cramped for two adults and two children. It served its purpose for our summer trip since we were out hiking an poolside the majority of the time.

The property is just lovely, and again, the service was great. Perhaps we would have upgraded to a larger room or suite if the summer rates had been lower for those particular rooms.

Would definitely return!

Arriving at the front is not charming - but inside with lobby and restaurant it is very modern and very nice. Totally friendly staff, perfect check in. Rooms are good in size but even these seem to be renovated you soon feel that it is only new paint and carpets, still old windows and not exactly what you would expect from a Westin room. But overall the rooms are OK. If you have never stayed in a Westin before it might be totally OK, but if you have - you will soon see that this is not the same standard than other Westin properties.

Room Tip: upper floors are better, in lower floors at the back of the hotel everybody is able to look into you...

The Westin in Snowmass is not much to look at from the outside, but as soon as you walk in the lobby there is a wow factor that makes up for the so so first impression. The check in clerk (Dan) was friendly, helpful and professional. The room was updated beautifully and there was plenty of room to unpack all of our travel items. The bathroom included a rain shower, high end finishes and quality toiletries. The hotel has an outdoor bar area and an efficient workout room. The location is partway up the mountain so the views and the hiking were killer. Great spot. One caveat- this hotel shares grounds with a sister complex (Westin Wildwood). Make sure you are selecting the correct hotel when reserving.

Checkin was great, the rooms are very nice. The 1st night I ordered an amazing in room pizza. Delicious! Day 2, the concierge was incredible and got me a 6 pack of beer because I was so sore to walk after my marathon. Then day 2 night, I order the exact same pizza as the day before and could only eat one slice. It was beyond awful. The cook apparently had the pizza stick to his oven dish so just scooped what they could onto a plate and sent it up to me. Since it was missing crust, it was completely soggy and disgusting. There are some great employees here to service you and others that clearly don't care what they present their guests. So if you want an overpriced thing you can't eat, take the chance. The rest was ok.

Thank you for taking the time to post your review on TripAdvisor, and congratulations on running the Marathon in Aspen! What an amazing feat - and definitely deserving of a six-pack from the Concierge! We're so glad that you enjoyed your room and pizza the first night, but sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your second pizza. I have passed your comments on to the Director of Food and Beverage in the hopes that we can make sure our pizzas are consistently delicious. We have many more races in our amazing backcountry, and we hope that you will choose to rejuvenate at the Westin again.

I rarely write reviews unless something is extraordinary or something is completely underwhelming. The Westin Snowmass is not to the standards one would expect from Westin. I will say up front that my reservation was done on Hotwire. Therefore, I don't expect the best room on property. It amazes me that hotels intentionally place on line bookings in the worst rooms on the property when the hotels are often empty. If they want you to come back, wouldn't they try to impress you a little bit? It doesn't cost any more to clean a room with a view that it does that back corner room that looks out on the tar roof. This Westin was virtually empty when I was there on a one night business stay. The staff was friendly but nowhere near up to speed. Check in was slow. There was no valet to get the car and I felt like I was speaking a foreign language when I asked that someone park the car. The in room dining was hilarious. There was no menu in room and very hard to find the menu on the TV. When I did find the menu they had only two choices for dinner (and that included the lunch options). I get the fact the mountain towns have a trasient population, but it is not too hard to figure out some of the basics. Give the young staff something to work with. Not a good stay and would not return.

Room Tip: Do not let them put you in the back or up high. LONG walk and two or three elevators.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review after your recent stay at The Westin Snowmass Resort. I sincerely apologize that your stay did not meet your expectations. We try to communicate very clearly the location of the rooms that are located in the Alpine Wing, which is at the furthest distance from the main lobby. It is our policy to offer an upgrade to the main building when capacity allows - regardless of how the room was booked. I have passed along all of your concerns to the executive management team so that we can address with our associates and use your comments as a learning tool. We truly appreciate all of our guests and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future.

We booked at the last minute, paying about $20-30 more than we would have for a budget hotel. We were surprised by how nice it was. The hotel is built on a mountainside, so some of the rooms are a bit of a hike from the lobby. we had one of those rooms, but it wasn't a big deal. The staff bent over backward to help us, even though we booked a discount rate on Orbitz. We loved the experience and wished we could stay another night. We're definitely going back to experience the hotel and the area.

Room Tip: Our room had a limited view, but was really nice regardless.

We enjoyed our stay at the Westin Snowmass during the annual Wine and Food event hosted in Aspen June 13-16th timeframe. Everyone treated us so nicely, very friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious and our rooms were lovely and pristine. Front desk personnel, and hotel staff so nice including the wait staff. IIs a great location.

Would like to give kudos to Scott Cochran - Director - Food and Beverage (the Big Cheese) he is a class act. Appreciated all of his recommendations and attention, ensuring we were accommodated and taken care of during our stay. He made us feel very welcomed and is an expert in hospitality. Just a good guy.

Room Tip: No opinion - we were delighted with our room accommodations and location in the hotel. I know that d...
