I've stayed at Wingate four times over the last year. Twice related to business travel, once with family, and once with friends to ski at Silverton Mountain. Each time, Judy has gone out of her way to ensure we're well taken care of and welcome. For the ski trip, we enjoyed a wonderfully large breakfast and hot drinks. (I ate an entire plate of bacon!) She has a very well behaved and friendly standard poodle (read: no shedding) and always asks about our labradors, although they are yet to accompany us on a trip. The property is in top shape, easy accessible and well lit, the bathrooms are well stocked and bright and the linens crisp and clean. There's just nothing to beat staying a night or two in a 100+ year old Victorian home in the middle of Colorado's SanJuan mountains! Excellent property, excellent service, excellent price, excellent experience! Thanks, Judy. See you soon.

Judy runs a most beautiful, comfortable B&B. We greatly enjoyed our stay there. She prepared us a wonderful breakfast and we had lots of fun talking with her about her adventures living in Silverton, Colorado. She is a painter and had some of her work displayed about the home, as well as very interesting historical photos. Highly recommended.

We were in town for a wedding and since there was at least one other wedding in town and the "Taste of Silverton" event, we were concerned about finding a nice place to stay. We found this B&B online and phoned with questions. The owner was very helpful and pleasant and reserved our room for us without a credit card to hold (she actually doesn't take credit cards, but accepts cash or check upon your arrival). It really is an authentic old house, but it was in good repair and very comfortable and cozy. We were there 2 nights and the breakfasts were delicious and healthy, along with appropriate and friendly conversation with the owner, who also happens to be an accomplished artist (the house was decorated with many old pictures as well as her own paintings). The bed was very comfortable, with down pillows and comforters, and the views from the front porch were spectacular since the house sits up on the hill on the outer edge of town, overlooking the main part of town. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would stay there again without hesitation. It was a great bed and breakfast experience.

after reading the last review, it appeared maybe the previous problems had been corrected. It has not. The dogs are back and having two very large dogs running the house with doors closed with a sign do not open is not what I expected in a bed and breakfast. They had the run of the house not me the paying guest.

As for breakfast, I received a coupon for a resturant in town worth $5. Not enough for breakfast and NOT a B@B. No morning coffee available to drink on the porch that had a great view.

No complaints with the house, it was very nice, just not usable. NO breakfast, NO coffee. Too many closed doors for the dogs.

Judy is a very poor host and property owner. Just after the buck in my opinion.

I will not stay here again.

The Wingate House approach to hospitality has been rethought and updated and these issues have been addressed and corrected. Thank you for your feedback. It would be appreciated if you would consider returning to the Wingate House.

This is a very nicely restored Victorian style B&B with the best views in Silverton. One bath has a Jacuzzi tub (not very authentic) but the rest of the house is a real gem with period wall-paper, trim and furniture. Excellent original art is displayed throughout the house as well as historic photos of the house. Wonderful healthy breakfast provided each day. Access would be a problem for the mobility challenged (many steps) but the added altitude yields splendid views of the town of Silverton and clear down the Animas River to the Needles Mountains. The main street (Greene) is an easy 2 block walk to the restaurants and shops.
