“Good Food”
Reviewed June 30, 2014

Friendly employees; great food that's not overpriced. They have a large variety of foods to choose from on the menu.

“Great place for breakfast!”
Reviewed June 23, 2014

Unless you are staying in a Bed and Breakfast, Breakfast is not easy to find in Silverton. Silverton, in general, comes alive around 11AM just before the first train from Durango arrives. It is my understanding that the Brown Bear is the only "year round" restaurant in Silverton. We ate breakfast there both mornings and will be our "go to" place for all future visits. The egg dishes are great with the omelettes being especially large and tasty. Biscuits and gravy was enjoyed by our family as well as the pancakes. Note: A short stack would be suffifient for all but the heartiest of appetites. Their portions are liberal and fairly priced. We can heartily recommend the Brown Bear Cafe!

“Hot food on a cold day”

Good hot roast beef dinner and sandwiches. Everything we had was tasty. Lovely setting original building with brick walls and tin ceiling.

“An overall good restaurant”
Reviewed June 19, 2014

The building and decorations are colorful as you would want in Silverton. The service, selection, and prices were what you would want in a "family" restaurant.

“Still Great”
Reviewed May 23, 2014

My wife and I ate here last year. We also dined at the Brown Bear on this May 2014 trip. The wait staff was prompt and friendly. The food was great. The Brown Bear is one of the very few restaurants that are open year round in Silverton.

The interior is full of history and they have a large wood burning stove near the entrance.

We experienced light snow on 21 May 2014 in Silverton and Molas Pass.
