Review of Silverton Mountain

Super guides, well managed mountain, lots of powder. You must be able to handle extreme ungroomed terrain, and the facilities are very basic (the only bathroom facility is an outhouse), but it was an excellent experience and I will go again for the great runs.

It's a manly mountain but I skied Silverton two weeks ago with a group of women. The hiking was tough with the backpacks and skis, but who could complain with 60" of fresh powder!?!?!! Avalanche conditions were high. We were in good hands though with mountain guides Kim and Sheldon. Thanks ladies....it was truly an amazing experience!

Awesome terrain, great pitch, great snow. No pomp and circumstance, no people wearing fur - all about the skiing, as it should be.

I've been here several times and its a great mountain with challenging terrain. You can chose how hard to ski and hike up further than the lift will drop you. At times the guided tours can be slow if you get in a slow group so go with your friends and try to stick with Alex (guide). The experience is great and fun to go "back in time" to the old west town. Aaron & Jen have a great thing going here.

Love the old school scene, a yurt with old couches and a wood burning stove. Mountain so much fun, lots of chutes, powder - your day is what you make it if you are willing to hike for good runs.
