This is our third time starting here. Staff is a pleasure and the surrounding views are amazing. We stayed in our trailer in the lower campground and the restrooms and showers were clean and ready every time we needed them. It is a short walk in to town and the Durango train stopped f right next to our camp.

We wandered into Silverton after staying two nights in Ouray. This place is a very good value. It's a combination motel/cabin and RV park. Easy to walk to town from the grounds. We had a small cabin that was clean and comfortable. Kitchen was equipped with everything you'd need for the weekend. Staff was very friendly! We would definately stay here again!

Room Tip: We liked the individual cabins.

Rented a jeep for half day to explore the back country. After checking with some of the other rental agencies in town, this was by far the best people to rent from. Although rates were all similar, the attitude of the people was far superior. Other agencies would not allow returns even a few minutes late and they would charge $40.00/ hour. Red Mountain was more reasonable in this matter and were not that particular. They also have brand new jeeps, a big plus. Highly recommend this place for jeep rentals

This was our first time staying at Red Mountain, and I can assure everyone reading that it will not be the last. In fact, we typically stay in an RV site for 2-3 nights, and then move on to the next... this has been our pattern for 7 years. Literally. We checked in to the campground and were received so nicely by the owners, Jim and Amy. We loved it so much we extended our stay not once, but twice, and stayed there for a total of 8 nights. (Our initial reservation was for 3). The campground itself is clean, neat, well-organized, and the closest one to the Durango-Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad -- it's nestled in the corner of town right next to Kendall Mountain and the railroad, which means we had a prime location for sunrise, sunset, railroad arrival and departure, and walking to everything. We were able to visit the shops, grocery, hardware store, and staging for an ATV ride is literally only 5 blocks away (with a great location to park your vehicle, by the way). Did I mention the campground owners? Fantastic. Anything you want to know, ask them -- they are gracious hosts, kind people, and really love what they do -- and it shows. We've traveled all over, and cannot wait to go back to the Red Mountain.

So not only are the cabins just a single wide trailer, the bed was a queen size mattress stuffed in a waterbed frame. In the room there are only signs posted for what you cannot do. The wifi information wasnt anywhere. When I checked in Amy was not as friendly and helpful as all the other people said in their reviews. But the most disappointing was that in the morning I went to the office 4 times in a 3 hour period and no one was there. I called 10 times and the mailbox was full. All I wanted was the wifi password and some towels. When I finally saw Amy she said very rudely that they had to go do trash. Our cabin #8 faced all the run down snow mobiles, snow plows, and rusted old equipment. I was very disappointed that we chose these cabins for 2 nights of our honeymoon

The owners of Red Mtn RV Park were very friendy and very accomodating for our family (2 campers, 4 adults and 2 dogs)! The park is the first place you see when you pull into Silverton and after you check in, they will escort you to your RV space (very helpful at night). The RV spaces are clean and spacious enough for our 32' travel trailer plus a truck and jeep. The owners were sweet enough to allow us to pull in backwards so we could face my parents camper and have one big area for us to "spread out". Our RV spots were close to the showers/bathrooms and we were not even going to use the facilities until we realized how nice and super clean they were! The overall feel of the campground is relaxed and "homey" feeling vs some other RV parks that feel very uptight and stuffy. We will stay at Red Mountain RV park everytime we go to Silverton!

Jim and Amy, the owners, are the most helpful and amiable couple. They were always willing to help if someone needed help. We stayed in the RV park, and ended up making friends with several people thanks to Jim and Amy. We are going back next year!

Room Tip: Cabins and motel rooms are spacious and have reasonable prices. They have kitchens.
