Took three grand kids here for dinner. Walked right in and were seated immediately on Saturday night. Waiter very helpful explaining how things worked. Enjoyed the salad bar and then ordered steaks. Kids enjoyed helping to cook the steaks, which were very good and cooked to perfection. Side dishes nothing special. Atmosphere not fancy so didn't have to worry about kids bothering anyone.

Thank Paul G

My wife and I and our two kids ate here on 3/12/14. All of us are steak eaters and have been to many steak restaurants all over America. I've got good and bad things to say about this place. First the good: The steaks are very high quality and delicious, the salad bar is basic but well-stocked, and for entertainment purposes, my kids enjoyed grilling their steaks. The bad: there are so many outrageous hidden costs, that this place is no where near the bargain they claim. It is also old and dingy looking. The calamari appetizer, at $15.99 (there are no prices on the appetizer list) was more expensive than some of the steaks and ABSOLUTELY THE WORST CALAMARI ANYWHERE. The rubber rings came out of a frozen bag. I stated to the waitress after receiving the bill about how this charge should be told to the patrons before ordering, and she said she would tell the customers for now on. No other attempt of retribution was given. We left a third of the portion because they were tasteless. There is also a hidden charge for splitting a steak which isn't posted anywhere. The creamed spinach was sour. As a final note, there is a sign behind the butcher that posts prices of steaks at other restaurants and the additional foods received (because your steak at the Mint- if you don't share it- comes with a salad), which are all written with a "zippo." The owner obviously doesn't do his research because anyone who has dined at Bern's in Tampa (where I live) could tell you that your steak dinner comes with salad, soup, vegetables- not "zippo."

I've never been to any other "grill your own", but this place was good. I was here about a year ago, but this time was better. The salad bar was free and adequate, bread (to add butter/garlic) to grill was good. The fillet was a good steak. I would ask how long to grill your steak since their grill is large. I will go back.

At The Mint, you pick out your own meat from the butcher shelves and then cook it yourself on the grill! They have several excellent cuts of steak, chicken, shrimp, kabob, salmon, tuna, and wrapped filets. At the grill, they offer teriyaki sauce, salt, pepper, and a cajun seasoning to put on your entree choice. Part of the fun is standing around the grill with your friends, and other guests! They have a wonderful salad bar that has chopped romaine lettuce, spinach, mushrooms, onions, cheese, beets, carrots, cukes, tomatoes, coleslaw, pasta salad, and toppings like baco's, sunflower seeds, and croutons. Sides included baked potatoes, steamed broccoli, many other favorites, and Texas bread loaves are there with a huge pot of butter to slather on and then take to the grill and toast! And the three desserts looked great! We ordered one that was a large serving of cookies and cream ice cream, rolled in cocoa, and covered with sliced almonds, drizzled with chocolate syrup and topped with whipped cream! YUMMY!!
