We booked Santosha for a girls weekend and had a wonderful peaceful experience. We wanted to chill and have girlie times but the atmosphere provided the perfect situation for us to just relax. We did just that. Santosha is a wonderful. Nice views and the breeze was lovely.. kudos to the wonderful staff as well

Fantastic place if you're looking to de-stress!! All the rooms are well-equipped (full kitchen), spacious and have beautiful views across the east/north coast ... the rooms also include wi-fi and TVs for those who need their technology fix ... for those who can disconnect from the real world, the pool and the extensive deck is awesome for long, lazy days ... the beach is not far away and there are potential hiking trails ... but this place has everything you need ... For tourists, I would recommend renting a car if you want to explore – there are many places (west: Farley Hill, Six Men's Bay, all beaches) and (east: Bathsheba, Martin's Bay, Bath) within a 15-20 minute drive either way) ... the management is very accommodating as well and go out of their way to make sure everything is perfect ...

I love the East coast. It is wild, windy and dramatic. The majority of beaches are not really suitable for swimming but the surroundings are beautiful. It is remote and very relaxing. It is a 30 minute drive to the other coast, where most of the tourist hotels and the calm beaches are located. The west coast is what is reflected in the holiday brochures. Be aware of what you want in a holiday as Barbados east and west coasts really could be 2 different countries pushed together.

I am glad I choose the East coast as I was happy to drive, and there are nice things to do on the East Coast and Harrison Cave is about 15 minutes away. You can eat at Sand Dunes- very local and a plate with cost you $25, The Cove is great but only open 2-4 lunches a week- very good food and you should book ahead.

Assuming you are happy on the East coast, then I highly recommend Santosha. It all about peace and quiet, allowing you to relax totally.

The manager Joanne is a superb host. She goes over and beyond what you would expect. We were disorganised and had not booked our car hire much in advance. The model we wanted was not available. We were unaware that the hire car was not there at the airport and she came to pick us up at the Airport. She lent us a coffee percolator and a hairdryer and answered several questions that we had. Really nothing was too much trouble.

Santosha was smaller in the number of apartments than we expected from the photos. There are only 6 apartments. We had Apartment 303 and we thought it was amazing. Joanne’s husband oversaw the build of the property and Joanne I believe furnished it. The apartment was well furnished- a good kitchen where you can fully cater for yourself, a large living room, a half bathroom and a shower room with a WC, a large bedroom with a very comfortable bed and a large furnished balcony. The apartment is tastefully decorated. You are given a local mobile with a few numbers programmed in. Ask Joanne about the posters as she has some for sale.

There is more or less a constant breeze. We loved it as it was relaxing and cooling. You will hear the waves if you have the doors open, which we tended to do.

We found the apartment a great size and space to use for 10 nights. It was the right side of luxurious and allowed us to have a very cost effective holiday in Barbados. We love it so much that we are going back in January 2014.

The local beach is a lovely place to walk. You may be lucky and Lady, a loveable dog may come for a walk with you. There are 4 dogs on site but they are all very sweet and leave you alone unless you go looking for them. We liked to go right along the beach as there are some rock pools and it is good for beach combing.

My advice for Santosha is: to let the water run for about 2 minutes in the shower to get the water nice and hot. While you can do this island by bus, I would recommend a car for convenience. Have a massage onsite.

My advice on a trip to Barbados is: Be prepared to drive. Expect to be surprised just how expensive most food is, even at the supermarket, as it has to be imported. Local foods such as fish and rum are good value. Duty free alcohol is cheap. If you are going in June, a lot of restaurants are shut for either lunch or dinner or both- phone ahead to avoid disappointment. Even when it is cloudy, the sun is powerful, so wear sun cream in the day. Lastly, there are not a lot of mossies there but they are there so wear mossie lotion at night.

The Hotel lies upon a little hill just outside the village Belleplaine on the east coast. You will have a stunning sea view of the Atlantic ocean from every room and the pool area. The rooms are bright with a high ceiling and a big balcony.

The wifi is good and a-lot of TV-channels on the flat screen.

We did not have a car, and it worked for our 4 night stay. We relaxed a lot, But if you want to explore the east coast you should have a car, Busses are not so frequent here.

Do not expect to find shopping possibilities or any touristic attractions in the village Bellplaine. But with that said - it is my favorite on the whole island. People are friendly, relaxed, and genuine. It has a small restaurant and supermarket (10 minutes walk from Hotel)

If you are searching for a relaxing place on the east coast of Barbados this is a good choice with great scenery and a long beautiful beach. But do remember it is not suitable for a swim.

When my significant other and I got to Barbados, our friend Fabian was raving on about how far out the location we chose was, but if you are looking for a BEAUTIFUL and SERENE place to stay while at Barbados, this is the place to be away from everything. When we entered the suite, our friend, who is a local, says his mind was blown away and his opinion about the place changed. He could not stop talking about it. It was beautiful, spacious and very accommodating. Joanne is the best host there is, she made you feel at home and really takes care of you, not as a guest but as family.
We highly recommend renting a vehicle if you stay here. As it is away from most everything. You can walk on the beach ALL day and not see one person. They advise not to swim, but if you are a good swimmer, and respect the currents, you can enter the water. Just don't swim out far. The setting is very romantic. We highly recommend for couples. It's quiet, lovely, and peaceful. Most of the locals don't even know about this spot yet, so if you are reading this, I suggest booking fast, as it is a newer spot to stay. And after staying there, I have no doubt it will fill fast as everyone catches wind of this true hidden gem!!!!!
One more note: It is not a hotel, so definitely make preparations for food. We did not do the grocery package. There is a grocery down the road, and we went into town to stock up for the week. Very affordable as you can cook in your room.

Room Tip: If you can afford, I would highly recommend the one bedroom corner suite facing the coast.

My Wife and I recently had our honeymoon in Barbados and stayed at Santosha. I cannot stress enough how great a stay we had, ocean views, close to a long quiet beach and near all of the best places to go on Barbados as a tourist. One of the other things that added to the comfort was the ocean breeze with made the temperature easier to handle.
The apartment was spacious and well laid out with an excellent kitchen for breakfast and nights in, the staff were really friendly, helpful and accomodating and the pool and jacuzzi were beatiful with the added bonus of the pool house honesty bar!
I loved Barbados but I think Santosha went a long way to helping that, whenever we go back we will be staying there.

Room Tip: All rooms face the Sea, size is the only difference

Santosha is great location for couples, family or friengs. As a local i can tell you is something truly special on this island. The rooms are large and well laid out. The kitchen provide everything you need to cook even gourmet meals. Staff is extremely friendly and will help with what ever your needs are. I high recommend it for local and vistors alike. You will simply fall in love with the place.

Room Tip: Top floor one bedroom units have the best view
