“Pleasant place and nice people...”

Great place to stay and a well-kept property. I was travelling with my dogs and sometimes one gets a less-than-adequate room with dogs in tow, but not here. A nice, clean room near an exit for easy coming and going with the dogs. The owners are courteous, caring, and attentive to guests' needs. Nice place -- in fact I paid a return visit on the way home!

I agree with the other reviewers that this is likely the best hotel in Salida, population 5,200. It is probably the smallest Days Inn you will ever see. Maybe 30 rooms tops?

Pros:
* The owners are super friendly and helpful.
* The room was smallish but clean, modern, and well decorated.
* Hot breakfast, featuring organic hard-boiled, locally-raised eggs and the standard waffles. A little limited in selection of cereal because of limited space.
* 42" flat-screen Samsung TV on the wall
* Western "rustic" decor in the lobby

Cons:
* Pretty slow WiFi...1.2 Mbps at its peak, and slower in the evenings.
* Beds were too soft and bouncy for our taste. Glad we got a room with two beds so we could each have one, or we would have felt every movement of the other person. If you have any back issues, this may not be the hotel for you...Hampton Inn down the street would be a better choice.
* No swimming pool

In the end, we decided we would stay there again on our next visit to Salida.

Ok so I've never been to this hotel before, but we were going to do some zip lining and whitewater rafting in Salida, so a web search turned up this hotel which looked to be conveniently located. What a gem! First of all, when we got there we realized that it seems to be run by a family from Poland who go out of their way to try and be nice. We arrived really early, and they hurried and got our two rooms cleaned so we could get checked in before we went ziplining! No surprise at all that this hotel has won the President's Service Award for 7 straight years! Captain Zipline is on H street, only about a mile from the hotel, and the rafting pickup location was about a mile in the other direction on Hwy 50. Really convenient. Oscar the Dachshound met us at the front desk, and visited with me one afternoon. He is really cute. The rooms are all decorated differently, and the whole atmosphere feels like you are visiting with the managers in their home, rather than in a hotel. There is a nice hot tub surrounded by a garden patio, but no pool. The hot tub was not new, but was in a nice, private location that my wife and I could share at the end of the day. We were the only people we saw in the hot tub, which is open from 5-11pm. We usually went out around 8:45-9:15 the two days we were there. There is a continental breakfast with MANY choices of food, prepared by the manager who gets up at 4am every day and prepares it herself. (with Oscar, I guess). We had a great time here, the rooms were spotless (did I mention that they won the Days Inn housekeeping team award, too?), the atmosphere was wonderful, and this was one of the most fun and entertaining places I have ever stayed.

The owner's son took great care of us. They truly appreciate your business and take really good care of you. The decor in the lobby and the rooms is a little overboard and a little wierd - but it is still nice - so don't let that keep you from staying. They take care of the place - neat and clean. The price was EXCELLENT!!!

Lots more charm than your average chain hotel! Friendly staff, great price, clean room with a very comfortable bed. The only downside was the breakfast... It was really terrible. Just packaged sweets, white bread toast, and a few other highly processed items. They may have had waffles that are popular these days but we arrived around 9am and there were none. Otherwise, this is a great place to stay if you are passing through.

I did not anticipate staying in Salida, although it is a nice town. I got there at 10 PM after a day of packing and moving, and decided it was best to just call it a day (or night) in Salida. Pulled in at the Days Inn, expecting the same, generic chain hotel as always and found a very cute, creatively decorated place. The gentleman at the front desk was very nice, although he said he was just filling in for the owners ... he did a great job.

The hotel is decorated with "beetle kill" pine, which are the trees that the pine beetles have killed over the years. It is good to see the wood being put to such good use. The colors are soothing, there are cute little stencils around and I just thought it was creative and different. (Check out the photos on the site).

The room I had was clean and I was very surprised to see REAL coffee cups and not styrofoam! Breakfast was good. I was pleased to see REAL oatmeal and not the sugar filled, over processed instant. I am sure some people wouldnt like that because it takes a bit to fix, but I do it every morning, so it was not an issue for me. The rest of the breakfast fare was you typical pastries and cereal, boiled eggs, juice and coffee.

I would stay there again if the need presented its self.
