“A municipal pool filled with water from hot springs”
Review of Salida Hot Springs

Our family was staying in Colorado Springs on a vacation. Our waiter, one night, suggested the hot springs in Salida. We drove two hours and enjoyed beautiful vistas along the way. However, when we arrived at the pool we realized it was just a municipal pool - that hapened to be full of warm water sourced from the hot springs nearby. It was divided in three sections and kids were in all three - using water cannons and playing volleyball. Adults looking for a peaceful soak will be disappointed. My kids had a blast but said it wasn't worth the long drive. The reason I am giving it 3 stars is the lifeguarding was atrocious. Every lifeguard except one young man was barely watching the water and was ignoring blatant dangerous behavior even when it happened right in front of them.

It is an indoor pool with a shallow end for young children, a pool that is only about 4 feet deep and then a separate pool that is a little colder and has lap lanes and a diving board. Great place to spend the afternoon on a cold and rainy day. Otherwise, i prefer to spend time outdoors. A great place to take kids if you need something to do. Locker rooms are dated and not all that nice.

This municipal pool has facilities for the whole family. It is fed by hotsprings and the family, wading depth pool, is about 90.
The 25 meter big pool has lanes reserved for laps. The prices are reasonable and the facilities are kept spotlessly clean.

I liked swimming in warm spring water. The do add chlorine/bromine however. This facility is indoors as well.
It loses some charm but does allow for swimming in bad weather. The staff did not tell us there was a soaking pool that my friend could have used while I swam. That was very unfortunate.

The creek springs are the best, you can make the pools as warm or cold as you like by moving some rocks. Only con is that it isnt as deep as the pools.
