This place looks a little unusual from the outside but it is definitely worth checking out. You are greeted at the door by the owner who is excited to offer wine tastings and very passionate when he describes his wines. He offered my boyfriend and I a tour of his winery and even gave a sample from the barrel. I will definitely be coming to visit again.

At Salida's 7,000 feet elevation and climate, grapes just don't grow well, so the owner Steve Flynn buys his grapes from vineyards in the western slope of Colorado and California. He makes all his wines and bottles them on premise. Tastings and tours at this small winery are currently free. His white wines are unusual, complex and highly drinkable, while his several reds consistently have a rich, woody and highly refined character. There are wines for virtually all palates. Stop in sometime to meet the friendly owner and taste some of his great wines. You won't be disappointed.

I went for a wine tasting and was pleasantly surprised by the excellent wine and knowledge of their wine. It was a very nice friendly place to try some new wines. The owner gave us the wine tasting and the experience was like talking with a friend. The place seems odd from the outside but you will be pleased with the inside decor and the selections of wines.

I don't know a lot about wine but it was a lot of fun tasting and trying out the different kinds available. I got some great information and a fun time with my small group.

This place seems like a hole in the wall (well, it kinda is), but we really liked our visit here. Our hostess was fun to chat with and gave good information about their wines. We liked their small batch approach and loved the "mistake" wines. This is a different tasting experience in that you'll taste some "modifications" to that traditional set of wines that you probably won't find anywhere else due to the small batch mentality. It made the winery feel like they had an artistic and refreshing swing on things (and didn't care what their critics said :)). We liked their rose, their petit syrah, and their tenderfoot merlot in particular.
