These guys were the best...we selected the Deluxe package...6 guys fishing for 2 days through the Gunnison river....great guides, great food, great service....the guides woke up at 2am when it started to lightly rain just to help us get from our cots outside to our cots inside the tents (which they had earlier set up).

highly recommend.

I have always liked RIGS. They have nice product selection and a great staff. My guiding experience was poor. The guide was nice, but he shop oversold the experience and we did not have day of fishing they promised. We were told that we would be catching fish all day long and we caught 4. Then, at the end of the trip, the owner changed the final payment amount. For a few extra bucks, he lost a customer for life...and now he solicits my review. Flawed way of doing business.

Like all trips we hope that the customer goes away with a positive experience. We attempt to get as much information from our clients so we can improve our business practices and better train employees. If a client communicates an issue after a trip we try to address it immediately.

It is also always difficult to respond when the customer has mixed statements (some good, some bad) about their experience well after the fact. We have talked to both the guide, the employee and the customer.

The employee that "oversold" the trip was reminded that fishing is fishing. One day the fishing can be truly amazing and the next day fishing can be tough. It is our policy to never promise fish because ultimately we cannot. Too many factors play into a good day of fishing. The clients ability, weather, water clarity and temperature to name a few.

Unfortunately, we were unable to resolve the statement, that claims "I, the owner am somehow changing prices of trips to get a few extra dollars." They stated that they remember a figure being told to them but never looked at our email or requested a receipt. Ultimately, our reservation says something different than what the client remembers. Unfortunately, not all customers read the information we send them. There is nothing we can do if the client chooses not to read the confirmation reservation with stated price before they go out on the trip. Our prices never change within a season and especially after a reservation has been confirmed, ever. We would not be in business for 13 years if that was our practice.

Arranged a day long fly fishing float trip for the hubby....incredible views, fun fishing and a great experience. Of course he would love to do it again!

Whitewater rafting is down this year due to low snow-pack, but RIGS is making the best of it with kayaking on the Gunnison River and tubing on the Uncompaghre River. We tubed one afternoon and had a blast - made 3 runs down the river, and had a great time.

A few days later, we kayaked on the Gunnison. It takes about an hour to drive from the shop to the river, but in a year like this, you have to go where you can find the water! Our guide, Ian, was helpful, encouraging, and patient as we figured out the intricacies of maneuvering a two-person kayak. Each of our sons paddled a single, while my wife and I paddled a double. We have kayaked once before, and that's it. We had a great trip, a nice lunch, and a great day overall. The river was cold, but we quickly got used to it when we swam one of the rapids, which was great fun, too!

For planning purposes, tubing can be done for only a couple of hours or half a day, but kayaking took the better part of a day, just as the RIGS folks explained it would. My wife is a non-swimmer, but was comfortable on both trips since she had her PFD. We would rather have rafted if we could have, but this turned out to be a pretty good alternative!

Thanks Dave for the review and coming out with RIGS! We feel a day on the river is better than none at all! Making the best of it and exposing people to different ways to see a river experience is what we strive to do. If we are not rafting or fishing, we are on the river doing something! A BIG thanks to our great staff who make sure our customers have a great time even when there is no class III water to be found! Tim and Heather
