“Food is good; service is awful”
Reviewed October 13, 2010

Recently at Sunday brunch our table of six had to wait 30 minutes for a drink order and over an hour to be served. And we had reservations. There were 2 wait staff, no bus people and no bartender for a 3 room restaurant in an historic hotel.
The crab cakes were among the best we had ever eaten, but the portions were quite small, and there was no bread available. Also grapefruit juice was not available at brunch. The kitchen must have been understaffed as well since we all ordered crab cakes except for one hamburger which should not take over an hour to prepare. The Argentine Grill desperately needs new management.

“Wonderful Lunch at Argentine Grille”
Reviewed September 23, 2010

We stopped here spontaneously for a light lunch before heading up to Lizard Head Pass enroute to Ouray last week. Did not know what to expect as I had not read reviews for this location on Tripadvisor, but it was just perfect. The pleasant and friendly waitress (from Romania) made a special effort to bring our salads quickly since we had a long drive ahead. This was by far the best salad I have ever put in my mouth! Nothing unusual, just the perfect combination of very fresh greens, blue cheese crumbles, crispy bacon, and a generous slathering of delicious (French/Vinegarette??) dressing. We'd had a big breakfast, so we could not sample more, but burgers, soup of the day, and several sandwiches were on offer for lunch as well. If we come this way again, I will go back in a heartbeat. Makes you wonder why so many restaurants serve average salad greens which taste heavily of preservatives when it can be so much more. Highly recommend this place!

“Nice Small Town, Bad Ambiance at local restaurant”
Reviewed August 22, 2010

As we traveled through parts of Colorado, The Argentine Grille in Rico Colorado was one of our stops, and is part of this hotel. Supposedly a chef from Los Angelos, CA moved his cooking facility to Colorado. The food is good, but the service and attitudes of the management and waitresses were downright BAD.... The food was over priced for the atmosphere and the portions of food. The drinks were highway robbery, as the prices did not reflect the drinks that were served and the Margarita that was billed as the best ever was not made right, and also watered down, and the c harge of $9 for this fiasco was disgusting. My friend then ordered another shot of Tequila to put into the Margarita, and was charged anotgher $9, and the drink was obviously not worth the $18 that he was assessed. The service was bad, as the waitress did not speak English well and her help was useless in getting proper answers. We also had to wait 1 and 1/2 hours for our food, as I ordered a Hamburger and wondered where they were getting the chop meat from that was taking so long. We did not have reservations, and I guess most people did, but in dealing with gthe public, they might have been better to tell us to go gto another place. Since this chef/owner was from Los Angeles CA, I can only assume that this way of greeting the public with this snobby and disgraceful attitude is what peopel from LA do, and I do not wonder why California is in the shape it is with the money and other problems. My advice is to go to the only other restaurant in town for a friondly time and a good dinner, and also to have breakfast in Delores, CO down the road. Sometimes food is not as important as the greeting of a friendly owner/worker.

“One of the best...”
Reviewed August 17, 2010

We (wife & I) dined here Sep/09 & loved it. Great food, great service and even better - a really tasty $24 bottle of wine!! I agree/support/repeat the previous 5 or 6 reviews & we will continue to dine at the Argentine Grill whenever we pass through Rico.
