“Just a little get away”
Reviewed March 10, 2012

Been here a couple of times. One when we spent our 40th wedding anniversary at the Bed and Breakfast on the main street. And then when visitors came to see us. Both visits were enjoyable with many things of a bygone era to see and think about.

“Interesting history”
Reviewed February 22, 2012

Beautiful historic home that was lived in by a fascinating family. Had lunch in the Carriage House Restaurant prior to the tour. We had a large group (12) which made it difficult for all to hear and enjoy the tour, 6 people max would be ideal.

“Beautiful historic mansion with a great history”

Guides were knowledgable and friendly. The family history made the tour. Grounds are beautiful too.

“Enjoyed our tour.”
Reviewed February 9, 2012

A friend and I went during the Christmas tour season. We got there when it opened and it seem there were groups of people were allowed to tour it earlier. We wanted to tour by oursleves but we were told we would have to wait for a tour guide. We had to tour with another group of 6 which made us feel a littler akward since we did not know them. The tour guide did a great job explaining the history of each room. We had to leave the tour early so we could make our lunch reservations at the Carriage House next door.

When we arrived at 11:30 am at the Carriage House, we were the only ones there. By 11:45 am more people came in and the place filled up quickly with large groups. Our waitress was nice but it took a long time to get our food to us. My friend asked for some mayo for her burger and it took a long time to get it. My chicken salad was ok. I got the feeling the place was not prepared for the large lunch crowd. It was very noisy in there since it hard flooring and high ceiling. We never did get our bill. We had to go up front to the cash register and ask for it.

We were able to go back to finish our tour. We had a different tour guide and she was very nice to take the two of us to the rooms we had not seen. She said summertime when the rose bushes are in bloom is a good time to go back for another tour.
