“Top rate museum in Pueblo”

The aircraft museum is great. I've been to the airport museum at Pearl Harbor and this is one is excellent in comparison. The cost is low per person and there are a lot of airplanes, helicopters and military artifacts to view. The best time to visit is during an open cockpit day.

“Great exhibits, informative experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 4, 2012

Went here not knowing what to expect and found it to be quite the experience. The displays are amazing and informative with plenty of historical information about the time periods of airplanes. There were two hangers of aircrafts and various displays of historical information. Great experience if you're looking to learn more about history and see some authentic items from various time periods of our past.

“Great Airplane Museum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 25, 2012

Went here at the request of my teenage son, not expecting much but even my teenage daughter enjoyed it. They have two hangers with some items outside as well. They also have a Nazi display which my daughter found interesting. And one of Gene Roddenberry's uniforms is on display...yes, the Gene Roddenberry, creator of Star Trek. He was in the military before becoming famous. Takes 1-2 hours depending on your level of interest. Photos are NOT allowed in the hangers. They have alot of fundraisers so always ask if they have anything coming up. One Tuesday they gave rides in an old war plane for donations. A buy one get one coupon is in the Colorado Springs Entertainment Coupon book.

“Don't miss - for young and old alike.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 21, 2012 via mobile

This museum is about 15 minutes east of I-25 in Pueblo. Good signage makes it easy to find. Parking is free and there's a charge of approx $7 per person over the age of 10, I believe.
The amount and variety of old aircraft they have on display is amazing!!! They have some good display boards and videos, though a little out of date for modern kids, my kids ( under age 11 ) learned so much.
The volunteer docents/guides are very friendly and excited to share their knowledge and experiences.
What's also nice is how much you can touch the aircraft and even get inside some of them. We met several men and women who are retired military and truly enjoy sharing these aircraft, and their stories, with visitors. They also have a selection of other military vehicles.
Make sure you stop to check this out - and bring your kids !

“For history and air buffs this is the place to go!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 20, 2012

Enjoy two hangars chock full of varying types of aircraft as well as exhibits that featured the history rather well and extensively. Also enjoy what they have housed outdoors. They had a special plane B-29 I believe out back and that garnered a $5 fee as the volunteer put it "just to look at it". We were led to it not knowing it was extra and then as we got closer were told that. I said "we're just looking not going inside" assuming that's what garnered the extra fee and that's when he said "just to look at it". We turned around and made our way back. The museum itself is well worth the $5 (instead of the usual $7) we paid that day. The gift shop is decent particularly for those enthusiasts of the aviation industry and history. It was well worth our time. We stayed approx. an hr. and found that sufficient. Others more interested in the details will spend longer here (perhaps 2-3 hrs.), soaking it in.
