“The Slopper...”
Reviewed August 10, 2014

An eating tradition! We always do when going through Pueblo. We love the Slopper (Green Chili burger) and the S.O.B. (sausage on bun). Good local haunt for good food and cold beer! Good any time of day!

“Known for sloppers”
Reviewed July 17, 2014 via mobile

Definitely the joint to stop in when wanting a quick burger and beer. The food is always pretty fast and the service is good. However, the place is so small and there is nowhere to sit at busy times. I dont think there is a host either. Of course, I will be back.

“The name Coors?”
Reviewed June 30, 2014

The only reason that they have the name Coors as part of their name (I think one of two anywhere) is that they go back so long ago, that the brand was "grandfathered" into history!
I'm getting hungry, just thinking about a green chili slopper ... with cheese and oyster crackers, of course!

“The Best Sloppers in Town..”
Reviewed June 25, 2014

While in Colorado Springs we shared we were on way to Pueblo. The person told us to try a slopper. We had never heard of sloppers. We were told the best Sloppers are served at Gray's Coors Tavern. The claim was repeated by our hotel staff.

The tavern dates back a hundred years. The place has old photographs, sports memorabilia and about 200 baseball gloves signed by former players.

The draw, besides the obvious at a tavern, is the food. Of course, Gray's speciality is the slopper.. A slopper is kind of a chili burger but the chili is juicy.. Either Red or Green chili.. Two hamburger patties.. topped with cheese, onion and red chili pepper if you choose.. And all in a fairly big bowl. It is cooked fresh and served hot. Try it with a basket of fries. It is very good. You can also order a half slopper if you are a light eater.

The staff treat you like family. They are friendly to everyone and especially people new to the tavern and its' menu. Our waitress was great. If you come through Pueblo try a slopper you will like it. And if you want the best go to Gray's.
