I love coming here for great food and coffee. However, the service staff continually let this place down. The girl in the dress was pleasant and apologetic for the wait, however both boys seem to think all the patrons were an annoyance. Coffees were cold, we ordered two but only one ever surfaced. We asked for cutlery more than twice as well as serviettes. At least the cutlery came! We had to wipe our hands on ourselves. Pick up your game peeps! There is always the Coffee Club across the river or many other places to go if we want attitude.

We often go here for breakfast, set in the grounds of Lewers Gallery. The breakfasts are really good. When the weather is fine it is lovely to sit in the garden,

Lewers Gallery is in fact the Penrith Regional Art Gallery. It hosts a number of unusual exhibitions, usually generated from the remnants of the Fine Arts Department at the University of Western Sydney. The quality may vary, but the art works are thought-provoking at least and at best brilliant. The gallery itself is a homestead that the Lewers built for themselves to pursue their art and jewelry making during the early years of the 20th century. There have been extensions, but the ambience owes to the old building, its ornamental and vegetable gardens and the lawns where you can enjoy a family lunch provided by the cafe on a sunny day. On those cold and wet days, undercover seating arrangements line the long walkway between the old and the new buildings. The cafe lunches are consistently of a high quality, ensured by the relative simplicity of the menu. The cafe and the galleries are well worth a visit if driving up the Blue Mountains or if exploring the historical sites nearby.
