“Delightful, beautiful, home from home”
Reviewed December 6, 2015 for a stay in December 2015

We have just had the most delightful weekend at Yew Tree Cottage. It is beautiful, spotlessly clean, warm and cosy. The owner provided everything we could have asked for; it was even decorated for Christmas. Contact was easy and done with the most personable manner. It could not have been a lovelier way to spend a family weekend.

We had a great time for our family meet up at mousloe. Helen came right over on the first night when we couldn't figure out the heating and made sure we were ok. The house is very crooked and the doorways are pretty low in places, but that's all part of the charm. Its great to have the kitchen, two lounges and dining room to spread out in. The only thing we might change is to have a bigger table in the dining room.

“Great for a weekend break”
Reviewed October 2, 2015 for a stay in September 2015

I stayed at Yew Tree Cottage last week with a group of 9 friends for my 30th birthday. I must admit that as I was looking through loads of holiday rentals within a 4 hour drive from London, that Yew Tree Cottage seemed like it might not be great as it was very close to London but also comparatively less expensive than some other places. Don't let that put you off though! The house was perfect for what we needed. As some of the other reviews have said, the floors/walls are all a bit crooked, there's low ceilings and only one shower room (but additional toilet downstairs), however these were all very minor and the positives far outweighed them. We were very lucky with the weather but the huge backyard was great for just relaxing in the sunshine. There was plenty of room for everyone and nobody had any issues in their bedrooms. Helen was very responsive and helpful throughout.

“Cosy and beautiful cottage!”

I came and stayed 3 nights along with work trip. The cottage is cosy, very old as got low ceiling so mind your head (i wouldn't advise very tall person !!) one of the door is very small but feel like child again and explore the cottage. What is weird is i slept at the top loft and the floor is not straight (again old biudin) but i not use to it as feel like falling out of bed!!

Lovely space of garden size that had small kid park aswell BBQ. Drive the nearest shop about 10 mins as we use to go shop called BUDGET i believe or spell similar..

It would be good if have more than 1 bathroom /shower, as have to wait to take turn for larger group but i am aware it is a old cottage. When we arrive, we thought there is no hot water.. took us 3 days later, person came who open the boiler (that need key access) that only require a switch to work ! wish we asked before but least got hot shower instead :)

Easy access to motorway and near some of activities such as gulliver park, milton keyne museum and XSCAPE.

I would stay again with larger group eg family or friends ( too expensive if it just me and my partner !) Signal is not good but lucky got wifi (sky) but not for the top loft where havent got any wifi- maybe need wifi booster . :)

“An authentic and charmful place to stay”

We have spent 3 nights in the cottage over the week-end to celebrate our graduation. We couldn't have hoped of a better place for the occasion.

The cottage is even bigger than the photos suggest. It took me a certain time before starting to find my way through it without any problems. The different ground levels and roof clearances as you walk from room to room appear sometimes tricky but add to the charm of the place.

Everything you need is available on site. The kitchen is big and very functional, ideal for people who like to cook, especially for a lot of people!

It was a sunny week-en and we've been lucky enough to enjoy a barbecue in the beautiful garden which is very well maintained.

Even though we haven't met in real life, Helen made sure everything was fine and was available upon any request. We really liked the attention she had to details as well as the kind attentions on our arrival.

I'd recommend this place to any family/group who seeks a really nice and quiet place to stay, and, as for me, you're a Cranfield graduate looking for the best place to enjoy graduation with your mates, don't hesitate. The price is a bargain compared to the quality of the cottage.

Fantastic stay at this cottage! Such a great find and just what I was looking for. I had family over from USA and they wanted to stay a few days in a traditional British cottage, you can't get more traditional than this! Stunning thatched cottage with lots of quirky rooms, beautiful garden, plenty of space for a party of 7 adults, a child and 2 dogs, great location to explore the area. We loved sitting in the garden in the warm evenings enjoying a bbq. We will definitely be staying at Yew Tree Cottage again! Thanks Helen

“Beautiful quirky cottage, great value for money”
Reviewed March 10, 2015 for a stay in March 2015

We were a group of 8 adults, 2 toddlers and a dog looking for somewhere to stay that had enough room to accommodate us all at an affordable price and this cottage certainly achieved that. It is like a tardis, as when you walk in it looks like a very quaint cosy old building. The kitchen isn't huge, with a table to seat 6, then there is a sitting room next to it that again seats 6. You then open another door and there is another sitting room (seating 6) and a proper dining room (seating 6!). We ended up moving dining chairs to the kitchen so that we could all eat and cook together, which was not too much of a squeeze and used one sitting room, with a beautiful open fire with , cushions on the floor for evening lounging. The place is huge and as long as you don't mind being flexible with the space it works brilliantly with a big group...especially if you are travelling with older children as then you could really use the space as adult/children areas.
Upstairs officially there is 4 decent sized double bedrooms with lots of storage space and 2 children's twin rooms, but there are also a couple of extra bonus spaces in 2 of the rooms where you could easily fit cots/dog beds/air beds (if the owner allowed) etc. There is one large bathroom with a bath and shower and 1 toilet...it would be great if there was more bathrooms but as the owner has rightly said in previous reviews, I expect the expense and logistics of putting in bathrooms is not justified as, one is plenty if you just organise yourselves.
The cottage had everything we needed for our group and was so reasonableness priced that we could not ask for more, The location was ideal for us, 2mins off the m1 j14 but yet it seemed we were in a countryside village. Walking around the village was lovely and there is a great gastro pub down the road which serves amazing and reasonably priced food. There is also loads to do locally with really easy access from the cottage.
We hope to be back at some point.
