Indian Springs Ranch Campground
Reviewed July 22, 2012

As a photographer, and frequent tent camper at Indian Springs Ranch Campground, I've often considered my attraction to this uniquely situated getaway site. Foremost, of course, is the reception with which campers are greeted: a warm, welcoming smile goes a long way towards setting the tone for an overnight, two day, or extended stay. Campsites abound, they're generously proportioned, and clean. Red dirt roads, several varieties of flowering cacti, hummingbirds, free range livestock, and twisted, centuries old junipers provide ample opportunity for remarkable photographs. This isn't your typical campground! While the office, pool area, and campsites are well maintained, Indian Springs Ranch Campground doesn't boast of, or feel like, fabrication. It's an authentic campground consciously free of vendors and gaudy advertisement that allows me to photograph authentically, and at peace.

My then 10 and 11 year olds and our 2 dogs had a wonderful few days here. We even extended our trip by a day it was so peaceful and great. It's a campground off the beaten track. WAY OFF the beaten track. You drive on dirt roads to get there, but the campground is wonderfully maintained and the tent sites where we stayed were private and large. The bathhouse is kept up well, the icy cold pool felt fabulous in the heat, and it was so quiet we could hear the crickets. Not for the first time camper, and Canon City is a good 10 miles away. I wish the weather would warm up so I could be there NOW.

Room Tip: No internet reservations, but you can call them.
